Can't decide between Shadow of the Colossus and Bioshock. I'm probably leaning more towards Shadow honestly. I'm surprised neither of them are there.

prince of persia 4 had some gorgeous levels, like the construction yard with all the balloon things.

The only game in that list ive played is portal and I dont see it as art. Sure it was a great game but as for arty id have to go with Shadow of the Colossus.

I'd say Heavy Rain should be on that list as long as you count it as a game, though I'd understand if you don't. Other than that, I'd go with Ico and Twilight Princess

Why is Portal an "arty" game? I thought it was just a clever puzzle FPS. I'm not saying that's not art, just that it's not really "arty" on the same level as things like Okami, ICO, or Psychonauts. I'd also maybe suggest Viewtiful Joe.

For me, visual styles are only one facet of the art in a game. Graphics, atmosphere, story, these are all things that add up to a whole.

I want to say Silent Hill 2 for the atmosphere, but Baldur's Gate 2 is in my mind the god of RPGs simply for the story. That said, I'd recommend Bethesda RPGs (Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 in particular) because I've always liked their format. You can either play through the main story, or you can throw it aside and simply go your own way and explore.

American McGee's Alice, also in my top list, was a beautiful example of twisting; taking an established setting or story, and turning it into something dark, interesting, and most importantly, new.

I find it curious how Ebert and others constantly hold Citize Kane up as the epitome of cinema. Have any of you actually seen Citizen Kane? Do you know how mind-numbingly boring it is? Suffice to say it hasn't aged well despite being great in it's day. This being the case does it really deserve always being held up as this shining beacon of cinema?
The rationale behind naming Citizen Kane one of the best movies of all time is looking at what movies were like immediately before Citizen Kane in terms of scope and storytelling intensity. It's the same rationale behind naming Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time one of the best video games of all time.

Damn good point right there, thanks.
