Question of the Day, September 10, 2010

A member of our own Escapist community, MiracleOfSound composed a tribute song to Half-Life's mute protagonist, Gordan Freeman. Which game would you like to compose a tribute song to? What would it be called?

Oblivion.

My 4,000 hours of gameplay will totally make me biased, though.

Portal already has a song, we need more Morrowind or Oblivion tributes!

I don't think you can make a song better than Portal's cake song, in any case probably Oblivion or heck, Fallout 3.

Well Final Fantasy already has this [http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/58184], which is awesome. Likewise I'm sure Pokemon has many. Fallout would be nice...

EDIT:

I'd pick Finaal Fantasy, but I'd say it already has a decent one.

Clearly Grim Fandango deserves a tribute song more than any of this poor selection (plus portal has "Still alive")

Still alive was the closing theme song, not a tribute.

WoW has "THe internet is for porn" which I will count because... well... Dont' question me

I havn't heard of anything for oblivion though

I would go with Portal, but it already has one. So I have to go with... Mass Effect series.

Seems like a job for Rebecca Mayes if i ever saw it. Maybe ask the nice young lady if she would make one for the winner?

You would basically be reproducing "tribute" by Tenacious D at that point though, plus it transcended just being the closing song, it is the game in song format.

I wouldnt mind seeing a Mass Effect, Dragon Age or MGS song.

Portal has its song. WoW has a million songs.

I'd much rather see MoS doing it as his songs are actually better than just "this is a song about a game so excuse its lack of innovation and musicianship". I've sent on both his current songs to friends who have never heard of Gordon Freeman or Clay Carmine and they all think that the songs are great pieces of work, based on how good the music and vocals actually are.

ACtually, if you think about it, the end of the song is foreshadowing of the second game, just the name of the song "Still alive"

The is saying "You did all this, you've won, you burned me, but you'll be dying, and I'm still alive"

More like MiracleofSound - have you missed his "Saved by Freeman" and "The Ballad of Clay Carmine"? simply epic [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103334-Update-The-Escapist-Community-Musician-Rocks-a-Half-Life-2-Tribute-Song]
