I can't believe Halo gets so much love. I only heard music from Halo for the first time last week. I never thought that was what it was known for, especially on this forum. Portal is a lot more understandable.

They're all fantastic. It wouldn't be fair to pick one. There's also Dark Chronicle, Rouge Galaxy (Level 5 games really know their music), and pretty much every Sonic game.

Alright, it's not quite modern nowadays.

Also, what is it with games and music CDs? I bought Risen and it included a CD of the music in the game. Why? None of the music was even remotely memorable. What justified a second disk?

Of all time, would be Ocarina of Time. Well I suppose if Silent Hill 2 is "modern" so is Ocarina of Time.

I would say the Halo music is... well-suited? Certainly not memorable though.

Silent Hill music is pretty rockin' I guess

Probably portal just because its a funny song and funny song a more memorable because there are fewer of them. Kingdom Hearts has some very distinct songs though.

I'm not even all that big of a fan of Halo (though I've played through some of the first three), but the musical score is extremely memorable.
