Questions about the escapist's subscription service

Hi,

I'm considering subscribing to the escapist, but there is something that isn't entirely clear to me. I would like to make a one-time payment to be a subscriber for one year only.

1. Does the subscription renew itself automatically? That is, will my card be charged again in a year?

2. If so, is it possible to subscribe, wait for the subscription to become active and then unsubscribe again? Will I get one year of subscription's features?

1. It does subscribe automatically (one thing I really don't like but with that said...)

2. You can turn it off. Once you purchase the item in question, you can go into Paypal and tell it to not automatically renew.

For Amazon, I don't know for sure since there's only a cancel button. I am under the assumption that if I click cancel, I would still get my time and it would just not auto-renew. If no one else answers, I will give it a try and let you know what it does.

If you pay directly by Paypal for Pub Club, the way I did it, you can just order Paypal not to make a renewal payment and your current subscription will carry on fine, I know this as I did that back in 2012 when I wasn't sure if I'd want to carry on Pub Club the next year or not. My subscription was completely unaffected until it expired when expected, after which I renewed anyway. No idea about the Amazon option, I've never used that.
