Most of you would have heard about Quiverfull. For those of you who haven't, it's a right-winged Christian group that thinks they need to have as many children as they can so they can fight and destroy all other faiths. They also think that woman should be slave to man, and the girls should not be educated in anything but sowing and cooking. If you want to learn more have a look at this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiverfull

Now I'm hear to ask you what you people think of this. Is it ok what they are doing? Should we just leave them and pay no attion to them? What do you think?

Is there any way to place sterility/chemical castration drugs into their drinking water that won't have an effect on the rest of thetown?

If so, I vote we do that and then tell them that God is punishing them for the idiocy and inconsideracy (not a word?).

Ugh, there's a billion reasons why I bailed on that garbage religion (or escaped, as I like to put it). *adds one more to the list*

It's not like they'll succeed.

Another religious group refusing to update to modernized standards; unfortunately not that surprising.

? Christianity is actually a pretty cool religion. I was reading me some bible the other day (I'm Buddhist by choice), and a lot of the metaphors made sense.

It's like any religion. Lots of good lessons, but there will be people who are Class-A morons who happen to be of that faith.

They're a bunch of morons and probably pychopathic. Fortunately, they'll never achieve their goals.

Guh, STAY AWAY. Seriously. The religion attracts more insane abusive types than any organization should. The book itself is packed with lies and inconsistencies (and one heck of a petty, jealous, flat-out murderous deity). I'm just gonna quit there, before I get put on probation for... something. Not that I'd notice, considering I barely post here.

When you say sowing, did you actually mean sewing? Sowing is planting seeds.

True, it does have some good advice on how to be a better person. I myself have an NIV edition. I don't read it, as I already know how to be better person. "Don't be a dick" sums it up.

name's pretty cool I guess. So um... big surpise, there are crazy people in the world? Doesn't make me have any less faith to see dumb shits share the same adjective with me.

Edit:

Yes, that one. The best solution to all (most) crazy people groups like that.

As a Christian, I resent crazy people like this. Every large people group has people that claim to be a part of a particular group even though that group condemns the actions of those people. Thats the case here: They claim to be Christians, but they don't line up with what Christians believe, so the real Christians condemn their actions.

Yea the Duggars (19 kids and counting) are of this cult.

Never understood taking ONE verse and running with it.

Overly-Liberal interpretations of anything lead to absolutes.
Absolute disasters, no less.

So does an overly... Conservative view?

Not sure how to word it but basically I mean: "IT WAS WRITTEN THIS WAY AND CAN BE ONLY INTERPRETED THIS WAY! NO OTHER WAY IS RIGHT! ONLY THIS WAY IS RIGHT! ALL OTHER INTERPRETATIONS ARE WRONG!"

That's bad too.

OT:

Hey, look! More crazies.

Yup. Those are absolutes.

There are hyper-conservatives out there who will latch onto anything specific, just as there are those who will reinterpret something and then deny any further interpretations.

OT: Besides, we need to slow our population growth; not pump out 10 extra mouths per family.

I suggest a Coliseum of sorts.

Voluntary, of course. You don't have to fight to the death(you can choose to do so, but you'll have to sign a waver and take a pay cut for willingly killing some guy), and you can quit at any time after or before a match.

Religion is actually very helpful to a lot of people. Most people seek comfort in knowing there is a higher power that is watching over us. It makes people who question the ways of the universe deal with the pain by saying that it is all part of the plan of a higher benevolent being.

When people use religion as an excuse for ignorance, like this example, that is something you should be ashamed of. Religion is not to blame, it is the people who abuse it. Saying religion is garbage is like saying government is garbage because some people abuse it.
