I had 6 die in 5 months, welcome to my world. Yet my Sega Genesis from 1991 has never required any kind of fixing...or updates, or ToS for DRM.
What a lovely straw man you've built there.
It's an example, just making a point that I have a few systems that outlast my xbox several times over.

The great thing about PC is that when they break, you can just google the fix, which always work. Just stay off the dodgy website and it won't break at all. and dude, it's just a xbox, your life isn't fucked.
Lol
Google from a broken PC.
Yeah sure, if you don't know anyone else in the world with a computer, or you don't have a second computer at your house, or you don't have a smart phone, or you don't have a cell phone at all, then you're going to have to google it on your broken PC because you've got "Safe mode with networking" as an option. If you're going to try and invalidate my point, don't be stupid about it.
And why couldn't you fix your Xbox 360 like that?
Good question, I'm just assuming people can't fix their xbox's because I've never heard of anyone doing it. Seems like a pretty safe assumption to me. People fix their own computers all the time, but when their console breaks most just have a cry and say "fml" like this poor sod. Shit happens, people need to deal with it by either solving the problem, or moving on. Starting a thread on the escapist about your broken xbox doesn't achieve anything except a console war.

Consoles are much more easier to fix and finding a guide on the internet to fix them is much more easier, specially in case of XBOX 360 having RROD.
You need to spend more time with people that actually play video games as a hobby.

I spend heaps of time around people who play video games as a hobby, one of my friends recently had RROD, he tried all the fixes on the first few pages of google, none of which worked permanently (the best lasted a week or something) and Microsoft refused to fix it (probably because I think the warranty had expired). The point is, he couldn't fix his xbox, while I recently fixed a "user profile service failed the logon" problem in 15 minutes on my PC using google's top result for this much much less common problem than RROD which affects almost every xbox. My experiences in the matter tell me all I need to know.

Yeah, but you use stone-age technology as your example. My NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, N64, PS1, and my Gamecube have ALL outlasted my first PS3, if you want to make that kind of game out of it.

I'm aware that most older consoles can do that, but it's still a point of annoyance especially when the newer systems costed more than the older ones ever did.

i remember my last xbox that died like that oh the fate it suffered between a grinder sledgehammer and a cutting torch then i switched to a ps3 and its lasted far longer then anything else ive owned
That either speaks to your great ability to exaggerate, or how poorly you take care of your things. Not how long the PS3 lasts. Seriously, I've heard plenty of horror stories about Sony too. So let's save the "SCREW MS GO SONY!" rhetoric for something else, neither of them have perfect customer service.
yes my friend had this happen with sony. he had the ps3 equivalent of the RRoD over a month ago, he was not under warranty by about 3 months and now had to pay to get i sent in, but he's flat broke, so he's been playing my copy of pokemon black while he saves up to send it out. sucks because he played it quite a bit.

now i had the RRoD twice, and in my experience Microsoft was VERY helpful, they took it both times and told me that my warranty had been expanded so i was still under it after my first experience. the second time i had this happen i had started a gold membership and lost about 3 weeks of play time, they sent my console back with a free one month gold card to make up for the time i had paid for and lost.

also when my black ops disc was scratched by my console when some body knocked it over while running, i called to see if anything could be done and they gave me several helpful ways to get around it with out actually getting a new disc. i ended up borrowing a friend's copy and downloading the game to my hard drive so that even my SCRATCHED and HALF NONFUNCTIONAL disc works just fine now because any damaged info just get read from the hard drive. so telling me you got shafted hard doesn't make me weep for you much, just call again be be pleasant and polite.
