That either speaks to your great ability to exaggerate, or how poorly you take care of your things. Not how long the PS3 lasts. Seriously, I've heard plenty of horror stories about Sony too. So let's save the "SCREW MS GO SONY!" rhetoric for something else, neither of them have perfect customer service.
yes my friend had this happen with sony. he had the ps3 equivalent of the RRoD over a month ago, he was not under warranty by about 3 months and now had to pay to get i sent in, but he's flat broke, so he's been playing my copy of pokemon black while he saves up to send it out. sucks because he played it quite a bit.
now i had the RRoD twice, and in my experience Microsoft was VERY helpful, they took it both times and told me that my warranty had been expanded so i was still under it after my first experience. the second time i had this happen i had started a gold membership and lost about 3 weeks of play time, they sent my console back with a free one month gold card to make up for the time i had paid for and lost.
also when my black ops disc was scratched by my console when some body knocked it over while running, i called to see if anything could be done and they gave me several helpful ways to get around it with out actually getting a new disc. i ended up borrowing a friend's copy and downloading the game to my hard drive so that even my SCRATCHED and HALF NONFUNCTIONAL disc works just fine now because any damaged info just get read from the hard drive. so telling me you got shafted hard doesn't make me weep for you much, just call again be be pleasant and polite.
