I like to play by myself most of the time. It's a hobby I enjoy when I'm alone at home and everything is quiet. I also enjoy playing online with my friends from time to time. But in games alike Destiny that require you to be online all the time, people often want to join me in missions or ask me for help. Sometimes I really dont even know how long I'll be able to stay online so I just decline. But there's only so many times per week I can decline an invitation before it starts sounding like a poor excuse or like I'm giving someone the cold shoulder. (I'm not btw)

I know we can't appear offline on ps4 but we can block people. If I block a friend, would they still remain in my friend list? Would I be able to unblock them and keep them as friends or would I have to add them as friends again? Would they be able to still see me do things in games like Destiny.?

Before anyone says it:

-No, using another account won't work. I only have one account that is linked to my system. I'm not about to pay a membership for a second one just to hide from time to time

-No, I don't wanna delete my friends. I just want to not be seen online so I don't hurt their feelings by playing by myself.

-No, ignoring them is also not the answer because, well, I also have ignored them in the past but that's just rude.

Thank you everyone.

You could just play with them a couple times, but be really obnoxious while doing so. Like wear a headset and noisily eat potato chips the whole time, or start yelling to someone in real life then go afk for like 10 minutes, or sing along to some music really badly. That should solve your problem for you.

Never used a PS4 but I assume it's similar to a PS3 in that, blocking someone will remove them from your friend's list and they will notice this. I suggest just talking to them and saying you want to play solo, no hostilities intended toward them. Surely they'd understand?

No you can't. Trust me I've had this problem on destiny also. If you block someone it removes them from your friend list. Also you cannot appear offline. Even if you block someone they can still message you, but you just don't see the message.

That being said, i have 2 suggestions.

A)explain what you just said to them. Most people would understand. Except just don't expect them to jump at your call when you need help with stuff.

B)Join a clan. This way there is always people to do stuff with when you need it. I've made quite a few friends in the clan that i am in. Very helpfull when you want to do nightfall, raids and some of the harder quests.

I usually do all my communication through the destiny app. So i rarely get people sending me messages through psn.
