Let's have a looksie. Mostly usual suspects, but there's nothing wrong with that, they're considered must-haves for a reason. I also like that you got Katamari Damacy and Dark Cloud in there, both solid picks. Assuming you're planning on adding to your collection, I'd say you've got a nice start. Fortunately, PS2 is one of the more affordable retro consoles. Lots of great games you can find for a fiver/tenner if you keep an eye out. Going off the beaten path can quickly get expensive tho, but that's true for all old consoles. Be glad you didn't go Gamecube or Snes

So, if I'm ranking your collection, it's...small? I guess? I mean, if we're talking about individual games in your list, I can comment on Sons of Liberty (very good game, just not as good as some other MGS entries), and Final Fantasy X (it's okay - great combat marred by a bonkers story).

Alternatively, if we're in the business of listing PS2 games, I can list the following (bearing in mind that I haven't played a lot of these - got many of them at a closing-down sale for a video store or a charity store):

-The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
-Killzone
-Medal of Honour: Rising Sun
-Medal of Honour: Vanguard
-Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
-Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
-Power Rangers: Super Legends
-Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
-Ratchet & Clank
-Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded
-Ratchet & Clank 3
-Resident Evil: Outbreak
-Resident Evil: Outbreak File 2
-Resident Evil - Code: Veronica
-Resident Evil: Dead Aim
-Resident Evil 4
-Sega Superstars
-Sonic Gems Collection
-Sonic Mega Collection Plus
-Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
-Soulcalibur III
-Spider-Man: Friend or Foe
-The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
-The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night
-The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
-Star Wars: Battlefront
-Terminator: Dawn of Fate
-Time Crisis 3

Well, you have GTA San Andreas, so that's a plus point.

None of that other stuff was on my radar at the time but from what I gather they are well regarded.

The good news for you I think is that you can pick up old PS2 games for next to nothing on eBay or local 2nd hand shops. And don't forget they play all the original playstation games as well.

99% of Mine got sold a while ago (for next to nothing on eBay of course) but I remember having:
All the MoH, CoD, Timesplitters.
Gran Tourismo 3
Ridge Racer 4
Black
Killzone
Oni
Fire Warrior
Soldier of fortune
Secret weapons over Normandy
Cold winter *
Mercenaries
GTA3
DoA2
All the Norrath, Baldur's Gate ARPGs
Most of the resident evils.
A Bards Tale *
Whichever Tenchu was on PS2
Plus a good few that just didn't stick around in my memory

*I recommend these little curios if you can find them.

You have Dark Cloud the only game I will allow to have weapon breaking cause that early charm never stops hitting.

It's a nice start, Persona 4 in particular is a bit hard to find, I mean at least I've never seen it on sale on the flea market, which is where I get mine.

I started last year with King's Field: The ancient city which is pretty rare but I found it for $50 mxn, which is close to $2.50 USD and in basically perfect condition and I've had fun collecting PS2 games to the point that I ended up starting to collect for other consoles I found cheap on the flea market too, but my PS2 collection is currently of 48 games (Though I also collect for PS1, PS3, PSP, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360 and Dreamcast and yes I'm thinking of starting to collect for other consoles as well), most of them really cheap ones and some of them are kinda bad TBH.

If I have a tip, is to try to go often to the flea market because if you find games on stalls that don't sell games you'll get them absurdly cheap even if they're rare, but if you establish a relationship with the people that sell games they'll start giving you deals and helping you out, for example the guy I buy from has more or less gauged what interests me and keeps it off the shelves to sell them to me exclusively and when I buy the common stuff he sometimes gives me some of them for free, since he knows I take good care of games too he also lets me know of anything he finds like old controllers in perfect state and rare games because he prefers these things go to people that take care of them and so on.

But yeah, establish a relationship with the sellers not necessarily as a friend just as a recurring customer, talk with them a bit let them know what games excite you and it'll make the collecting process much better, alternatively you can buy online but to me personally that's not fun, I find it fun to find stuff laying around and asking the sellers for recommendations, who'll sometimes recommend stuff you didn't care about and end up liking, or sometimes you won't like it but that's part of the fun.

Also IDK how it is where you live, but where I live RPGs are kinda hard to find because they sell almost immediately so if you see any RPG you mildly care about at a reasonable price I recommend buying it.

You need to get Rogue Galaxy, one of the best JRPG's ever on the PS2.
Yep, it's actually pretty good, I got it from recommendation from the guy that sells shoes and I've had a lot of fun with it, I haven't cleared it yet though, I'm on the prison dungeon right now.

Make sure to pick up okami if you've never played it before. Even on ps2 it stand up to modern game visuals due to its gorgeous look. Also if you like Jrpgs play ar tonelico 1-2 since those never got a modern system port and have unique amazing music infused stories.

Try to add:

Silent Hill 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Devil May Cry 1, 3
Twisted Metal: Black
SSX
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, 4
Resident Evil 4

Some of these are available on modern platforms as remasters or rerelease but then it wouldn’t be very good a PS2 Collection either.

Is it? I was just going by the games list on Wikipedia.
Kind of depends on how you count. It's 4379 if you count only actual and unique games. But if you count all different (regional) variants as separate, and add in non-games like edutainment and interactive gravure videos, then it goes up to 10000+.

IDK about RE4, it looks considerably worse on PS2 than on Gamecube or Wii and it's so widely available on modern systems that I just don't think the PS2 version is worth it, I'd recommend getting the other RE games on the platform above 4, meaning Code Veronica X, Dead Aim, Outbreak 1 & 2 over that, though I'd recommend getting the PS1 RE games 1,2 & 3 are all great and run on PS2, they do require you to get a PS1 memory card though and that's a bit harder as those aren't as compatible with PS2, of 5 that I own only one works on PS2.

Though if one is into horror games, Fatal Frame 1 through 3 are great options on PS2, so is Clock Tower 3, but horror games tend to be expensive, Kuon, Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose are all great but they're also ridiculously expensive particularly Rule of Rose.

-Metal Gear Solid 2 is so good and basically predicted the world we're currently living in

A few recommendations:
-Mercenaries will ruin GTA for you, it's so good and still my favorite open world game
-Deus Ex is an amazing RPG
-Midnight Club 2 is still my favorite racer of all time, it's extremely arcade-y, there's a button to drive on 2 wheels, Paris city design is amazing
-Shadow of the Colossus if you don't have access to the remaster or remake
-Shadow of Destiny is a rather short story focused game where you jump to different times seeing the small city change and meeting ancestors of present day characters
-God of War is still the only good God of War game
-Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is amazing and still holds up (I replayed not that horribly long ago and it held up)

I think the only issue with playing RE4 on PS2 is that you aim with the left stick, which at the time wasn't an issue because there was no standard shooter control scheme like today and it would be really difficult to break the muscle memory of over a decade of shooters using the right stick.

Oh yes, the Fatal Frame games are great horror games. You really feel unnerved moving through the areas.

Yeah, it's just not what I'd call one of the best versions of the game as it does suffer from some weird quirks, it's not a bad version but better versions are so easily available that I don't think it's worth getting unless you're one of those people that collects to fill a shelf rather than to play, which is fine but not what I do.

As for an actually bad version of RE4, I'll ommit the old mobile versions because I've never tried them an they could be decent, but the original PC port from back in the day that I used to have (my brother kept it), now that was bad, it didn't run well, the control scheme was weird and I think keyboard only though I could be misremembering and controller support was very bad, as in most controllers didn't work for it, the only positive were the mods which are now on the superior steam release, but as far as I know that was the worst version of the game.
