I just got a new laptop and it's fairly good at gaming (can play Crysis and Metro 2033 on high settings), but I'm a little worried about heat, so I was thinking of buying a laptop cooling pad.

I've been looking at this one, which I think is pretty good:

http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1310883314&sr=1-2

but with fan based cooling pads I'm a bit worried about them picking up dust and constantly blowing it into my laptop.

On the other hand I can get one of those cold gel cooling pads

http://www.amazon.com/ThermaPAK-Lap...5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1310883953&sr=1-5

but these heat up themselves after 3 or 4 hours and stop working.

I'm sure some of the good people at the escapist have faced the same conundrum, and I would love to get some informed opinions on the subject. Also, if you have some better cooling pads that are reasonably priced let me know and I'll look into them.

Thanks.

Edit: I have a 17.3 inch laptop so I need a cooling pad that would fit that size.

A Belkin USB powered pad would work well considering what you brought up. Fans can blow dust into your systems, but my Dell never had dust problems because of how it's fans were placed.

Best thing ever!

OT: I'd go with your first choice, it would definitely work better in the long run if you are gonna be playing a lot

I just use the cheaper Belkin cooling pad. Since my laptop is mostly kept on a flat clean service, ...or packed away in a Laptop bag. Just picked it up one day. Simple, not very high tech or expensive, but it's been working fine for little more then half a year now and does it's job. Then again, I haven't really tried a large variety of cooling fans, since I've only ever had one laptop and I just use it to hold my short stories and what-not. The most I have on there is Puzzle Quest 2. lol

I would but I have a 17 inch laptop and the belkin is too small for it. I realize I should have mentioned that in the OP.
