Hi. I just got a new computer after my old one crashed (you will be missed), and i was thinking it might as well be time to get some new games for it.
I really like RP-Spacer games, freelancer being a favorite of mine, and i didnt really like eve much (the aiming system).
Care to recommend me a game? ^^

You mean rpg games that take place in space, right? If so try the Mass Effect series of games. They are an RPG third person shooter series of games with an amazing storyline. One that makes COD BLOPS look like the toilet facilities of a third world country.

Give X3 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X³:_Reunion] a go, if you're looking for a game where you fly around buying shit, building a bigger ship, fighting pirates and raiding traders.

Ive played both of them, but you only really use the ship to go from A to B.

It's not a new game, but you should get the great-great-great-great-great-granddaddy of RP-Spacer games, Elite.

Sites like Abandonia and Dosgames have it for free download, it's not hard to find.

EDIT - Op's disturbing avatar is disturbing.

If you can get past the steep learning curve, perhaps EVE Online is worth a try.
I have two problems with eve, the fee and the aiming.

Another vote for the Freespace 2 Open Source Project, which is essentially an open-source mod of the original Freespace 1&2 with a great deal of enhancements and an active community with additional mods and such (although I have to admit, I have only dipped into that thus far, but what I saw was very promising :)

Also an additional vote for the X-Games, I personally like X3: Terran Conflict, the latest one, but they are all solid, if a bit complex and time-consuming (also has a vibrant community, they have some good tutorials and resources, use them because the game is kinda bare in that regard.) If you have not tried them yet, there is a collection of all of the games called X-Superbox (or something like that) which should give you the whole enchilada :)

Also, if you like a little retro, but do not want to go all the way back to Elite, I personally highly recommend my probably all-time favorite "Wing Commander: Privateer". It uses the Wing Commander setting and universe, but puts you into the role of a freelancer pilot, where you take on missions, ferry trade goods around, deal with pirates, all the good stuff. It is from the early 1990s (so retro, but not totally retro ;) and there is a great open-source version which you can check out for free here:

If you can get into it, X3: Terran Conflict is what you're looking for. The learning curve is brutal, though.

Try Darkstar One, shitty dialouge, voice acting, combat and plot but it has a strange charm to it.
You haven't lived till you've heard trashtalking during a space-dogfight
"This is Darkstar One here...DIE!"

It basically is all about combat campaigns and flying missions in FPS style, third person can be done but is a bit less then optimal. If your looking for free roaming the universe, this is not your game.

BUT...

If you want mission-driven stories, frantic dogfighting while capital ships slug it out with massive beamweapons and some of the vey best mods out there, squeezed from a 10 year old game engine, which is still being upgraded to this very day (makes it look like it's hardly a year or 2 old) your in for 100's of hours of fun. there are tons of homebrew campaigns and total conversions for it.

easiest way to start is to grab the windows installer from here:

http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/FreeSpace_Open_Installer

It's automated install will give you everything you need included the best mods and the latest updates, it does almost everything for you but watch porn while you wait for it to finish. It takes really, really long if your new to it though. (took me 6 hours)

NOTE: you will need to have the game installed on your HD allready so grab that from somewhere (http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/ sells it for 6$) or ... you know.... *nudge* *nudge*

After a quick scan of the thread I don't think anyone has mentioned Independence War 2.

Its probably about 10 years old, but last time I played it a few years ago I'd say it held up pretty well.

Its a Newtonian Physics (this makes it fun) based space pirate sim. Good fun, challenging, and you get to plunder fat cargo ships.
Worth a look. :)
