Red Mile Announces New Additions to Sin City Development Team

Sin City [http://www.redmileentertainment.com]series of comics and graphic novels.

Flint Dille, a veteran of the game and animation industry, has been brought on to lead the design, scriptwriting, story generation and overall production of Sin City: The Game. Dille's previous videogame credits include Transformers: The Game [http://deadtorights.com/]. Dille, who is close friends with Sin City creator Frank Miller, said, "Frank and I have been having a party coming up with nasty stuff for the game. In true Sin City fashion, some old characters will return, new characters will appear and - without giving anything away - probably die horribly."

"It's great to be working with the Red Mile team on this project," he added. "They clearly share Frank's and my commitment to bringing a new and true Sin City to interactive life."

Red Mile also announced the participation of Union Entertainment [http://www.unionent.com/home.html] in the project, the production company behind the concept document that first attracted Miller to the idea of adapting his creation to a videogame. "Sin City is one of a select few properties that everyone agrees is ideal for videogames," Union Entertainment President Richard Leibowitz said, "and we're very proud to help make that happen."

"Flint and Union bring a deep and broad array of videogame experience to Sin City, and they'll be integral to Red Mile's creating a videogame experience that delivers on gamers' and fans' expectations," said Red Mile CEO Chester Aldridge. Further details about the game have not been released.

Let me know when they actually name real developers for this. This is all chiefs and no Indians so far. Front-loading any projects with press releases just leaves me scratching my head.

"Sin City is one of a select few properties that everyone agrees is ideal for videogames." Does anyone here agree with that notion, considering every protagonist character in the "property" meets a tragic end?

Dwight and Gail would both do nicely as characters who manage to survive the carnage, and Marv seems to keep coming back from day for for prequel-type stories. And let us not forget the mysterious hitman (don't know his name). But the impression I got is that they're creating an entirely new character to move among the pre-existing Sin City characters.

Which isn't to say that I don't agree with your general sentiment.

Unless Frank Miller is creating the character himself, they're just riding his coattails. The only interesting thing that could come of a Sin City game is an interesting hook for art direction, the sort of which hasn't been tried since the XIII game. But this would be ramped up to where it's mostly black and white and only a few bits of spot color.

But that's just look, not gameplay.
