Remedy Reveals Alan Wake PC Launch Trailer

The PC version of Alan Wake is just around the corner, but you can get an eyeful of the launch trailer right now.

The long-awaited debut of Alan Wake on the PC will finally arrive on February 16 and to mark the moment, Remedy has turned loose a trailer setting up some background for those of us who missed out on it the first time around. According to February 2010 [http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/5050/article/alan-wake-gets-pc-launch-trailer/], showing off the higher resolution graphics of the PC edition and mixing in different gameplay segments.

Believe it or not, I actually don't know much about the game, so I'm going into it about as cold as anyone can be at this point. The Xbox 360 version passed me by without even saying hello but the impending release of the PC version, and the hope that the more "intimate" nature of the platform will help drive the experience, has me pretty excited.

The PC version of Alan Wake, which includes The Signal and The Writer DLC packages, goes on sale tomorrow for $29.99 on Steam, while a retail collector's edition [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/115753-Alan-Wake-PC-Collectors-Edition-Coming-in-March] will hit store shelves on March 2.

I might just have to pick it up. While I do have a 360, since I waited, it's nice to see the Steam version have all the DLC.

It says 15 hours left on steam, want now damn it. This will easily tide me over till Mass Effect 3.

Also it's nice that a game of this caliber is so cheap.

Wait, where did this come from? I've been hoping to play this for awhile now, but I didn't realize it was coming to PC..

Gah, and I just told myself a couple days ago that I wasn't going to buy anything until summer. I might have to fix that judgement.

Alan Wake is one of the most beautiful game I've played in years. I might just pick it up on Steam too.
Definitely worth a try!

I am sort of stuck in a quandary here...

This is a game that was slated for the PC to show off DX10 and Vista, then took away and became a 360 title which didnt do too well by some accounts, and now its tossed to the PC market again like old leftovers that have been passed around and not taken up... the party treats that were leftover after the office party then handed to the Janitor to take home.

The game will probably not sell well on the PC market as a result, but many will pirate it just to see what all the old hype was about and if it was really worth getting irritated about.

I am not even sure if the game was actually any good, it certainly didnt leave any big impressions on the 360 market, lost in the reams of CoD's , Halo's and GoW's.

... but then again it is with the DLC, and it isnt priced at the full retail price so its not like there is no acknowledgment that the release isnt a full value release...even on a 2nd class platform.

We've been talking about this for awhile now. :) The upside is, it's not a full-priced game, 30 bucks on Steam (I think there'll be a $35 digital CE as well) and then presumably a bit more for the retail CE in March, which is what I'm waiting for. At that price, just go ahead and buy it!

Thats the word I have been looking for to describe the pc gaming experience. "Intimate"

The game did well over time, a new IP mixed with the genre Alan Wake finds itself in was never going to match Halo, CoD or any blockbuster

It's a good game I'd recommend it if you have never played it before.

And I'd say a game of this caliber can only be $30, they do have a nice story but a couple of hours in they start to slice it paper thin and pad the rest of it in with the most basic combat, this would normally be a 6 hour game but they forcefully stretched it out into 15+.

I'm not sure if DLC adds anything to the slow parts, just be prepared for a bit of a grind.
