With the recent re-re-releasing the original Resident Evil game and launch of the episodic Resident Evil: Revelations 2, Capcom has had a successful past few weeks in pleasing the fans of this series. However, that hasn't stopped the constant. Today, Capcom has announced the development of Resident Evil: The MM0-Virus.

"The past few games have included both co-op and competitive multi-player modes. Those have been rather limited in scale but now we want to follow in Bioware and Bethesda's steps and release an MMO to get all that cash money" said Kazuhiko Abe, President of Capcom USA.

Abe also went into detail about the game's mechanics.

"With such a rich cast of tens of characters, we wanted the players to be able to just go wild and do whatever their dirty, rule 34 corrupted minds could come up with. Each player chooses one of the few story characters and then joins up with others to slay super zombies that have chain guns for eyes and really big spooky animals like snakes, scorpions and spiders."

"These next two words will make every person rush out to pre-order, I guarantee it. Ready? Boulder raids. That's right, imagine hundreds of Chris Redfield's punching boulders, shooting rockets into volcanoes and other insane acts of awesome. This is what the creation of the internet was leading up to. This is looking at God himself and having him give you the best one-handed tugboat of your life. Gamers, get ready!" said Abe.

We tried to get a comment on a possible teaser for Resident Evil 7 but all we could get was "It won't be like the originals so stop asking."

We also attempted to contact Shinji Mikami to get his opinion on the project. However, after he heard the details, he said he would "commit harakiri" by drowning himself in the toilet. This reporter hopes that he at least flushes BEFORE doing so.

Look for the on-disc character DLC to be found out sometime in the near future.

Sad thing is, with the popularity of the likes of Day Z or that one for the PS4, I could see Capcom trying to pull something like this off. I saw the tread went "yep, that sounds about right. That will be shit" then I saw the thread creator.

Mr Taco, are you from the future and trying to warn us of awful games to come?

I call the online handle of "Chris_FuckBoulders!!" So hands off all of you! *snarles!!*

I won't lie, I honestly thought this was real at first. I just saw the title and said "Yep, that sounds about right. Two steps forwards and eleven back right Capcom." and then I thought, no wait, who made this thread.

Oooooh it was

This kind of happened already with Operation: Raccoon City and that flopped pretty hard. How is it that Capcom is still around, is it on legacy alone? Or do the tears of fans sustain them?

Damn you Taco, I read the title and thought this was real.
One of my favourite franchises of all time is having a hard enough time without your annoyingly well written satire.

I really do not want to have to pay for tattoo removal to get rid of any evidence showing my love for the RE series.

The Arklay Mansion could be a 50 person raid and when a party member is defeated they rise soon after as a crimson head.

When showing the iconic cinematic of the first zombie reveal turning his head you'll now see 3 other Jill's /dancing between you and it.

Line up of 30 people...."I hope this is not Chris's blood..."
*5 seconds later*
Line up of 29 people...."I hope this is not Chris's blood..."

Line up of 28 people...."I hope this is not Chris's blood..."

With you in between those dancing Jills, it would almost be as if you were some kind of...

JILL SANDWICH!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I've never fallen for these threads but this one got me. Fuck.

You're going to feel very silly when they announce their new Resident Evil MMO in a week, with bug princess Agatha included.
If that happens, do I get a prize? :D

I'm sorry if I got you excited just to let it all down :<

I think it's the money!

It's also been around a long time so you can rake in that nostalgia AND re-make money!

It must also be a mobile title, in accordance with Capcom's recent (failed) focus on mobile development.

Gotta triple down on the stupid.

Truthfully it seems inevitable, they did those two Resident Evil multiplayer games for console, and "Raccoon City". They seem to have wanted a game a lot like what is being described for a while now, and as time goes on and others succeed it strikes me as increasingly inevitable that Capcom WILL release a Resident Evil MMO. To be honest Psychic Taco got me here because just going by the title it seems exactly like what they would try.

I've also wondered if they would ever try and make a "Street Fighter" MMORPG, but that would probably be too creative for them. Largely because White Wolf made a horrifically awful Street Fighter RPG at one point. It actually was pretty horrifying as well, Something Awful once did a review (in WTF D&D I believe) of one of it's character books and that's honestly just the tip of the iceberg. :)
