It already is a franchise! It's the third game in a series! There are spinoffs and books! There's a movie in the works! In what way has Deus Ex not been a franchise for over a decade?
Exactly. They aren't going to stop. Which means the original will be brought in to line with HR. Which is exactly the thing given all the purists nightmares.
You are completely guessing that. When Diablo 3 came out did Blizzard rerelease the first 2 with fancy graphics? When X-COM Enemy Unknown came out did UFO Defence get a remake? Have we seen a remake of System Shock 1 or 2? No. We haven't. Because that doesn't happen every time a series gets revived, and it's silly to say that it's definitely happening.

10 to 15 (even almost 20) years ago when those games were popular was before publishers turned to the "money first, gaming second" mentality. Today if a product makes bank, then the parent company will string a franchise along for as long as it can. To think they won't wring Deus Ex dry is wishful thinking at it's worst.

But XCOM, Bioshock and Diablo 3 were all released recently, related to games from the same time as Deus Ex.
I don't understand what you're saying.

Just because the series has been revived and that the installment that did it was a prequel, does not mean in any way that they had/have any intent on remaking the first game. There is a reason they simply didn?t start with that in the first place.
Any sequel that comes from Deus Ex now is likely either going to lead us right into the original in which they?ll likely just leave it alone again and leave it up to the consumer to decide if they want to play it or not.

Or they will leap frog over it with the next installment and move things forward while providing enough info for those who haven?t played the Conspiracy to bring them up to speed.

Their predecessors were released decades ago, and their parent companies see them today as a means to make money.

After HR was released, Square Enix expressed an interest in remaking the original. The reason they didn't start with it, was because the game had a huge following, and HR was a way of building a solid base so they could remake the original with the fans support. The original was popular, and in today's publisher mindset, popular equals money. But a straight up remake wouldn't make money, hence the prequel.

But none of them have remakes and yet you assume that deus ex will get one?

Well, yes. As I said, the company has expressed an interest in doing one. And with the majority of the Deus Ex fanbase happy with HR, there won't be sufficient outcry to instantly tank it.

Look, I can't be bothered with this anymore. You think they're definitely going to remake it, I think that's baseless, let's just stop.
