Really happy to hear that the gunplay is removed, I want to see how this new combat system works though. In an ideal world, you run at a guy and slide into his knee to avoid some gunfire, then do something else to knock him out before getting back to the running, this would take all of five seconds. Worst case scenario is you STOP moving to do that three hit combo, killing the run you had going.

As for the online thing, I feel like Zhukov and I were the only ones who understood what the "it'll be like Journey" bit meant. And if it's like that, it'll be fucking awesome, and I really thing the term "always online" was a really poor choice of words.

All in all, cautiously optimistic at this point, considering EA's track record, I'm still reserving the right to not get hyped. So far this is going in the direction I want, but there's still two years to fuck this up.

I see a bunch of people getting preemptively sore about the online stuff. But they're comparing it to the Journey approach, which is something I'd love to see more of. Curious about how it'll turn out.
To be fair, EA's execution of always-online has been so ham-handed that it would be forgivable to assume that their hands are actually made entirely of pork products.

That's really the problem with Electronic Arts, when you step back and look at it all. Their history has inured gamers into assuming that anything they do is deliberately and solely designed to screw over the customer.

I haven't bought an EA game in ages and Mirror's Edge 2 might have gotten me to come around, but 'always online' and 'reboot' are not things that I find encouraging enough to go back on my EA boycott.

I'm honestly bummed; I really love Mirror's Edge.

I was all set to hate this but I am feeling surprisingly optimistic about it.

Open world sounds like a good idea and the combat sounds a bit better now that there are no guns.
The always online bit sounds interesting. Im inclined to think the worst of it since this is EA but with any luck DICE will have more control and will be able to do something cool with it.

I love the way Dark souls 2 handles its multiplayer with both the singleplayer and multiplayer flowing together effortlessly and the players ability to control how much interaction with others they want. If they can do something like Dark souls then it could actually be pretty fun.

Im feeling optimistic but I won't forget its EA behind this. Its a while until it comes out so i'll keep an eye on it and hope to see more information about it soon.

Well once again EA disappoints in advance. A more forward failing company is impossible to find. Probably even impossible to imagine.

Enhancing the combat in what is essentially a 'racing game at heart', a first person parkour racing game at that is just too stupid to be from anyone else than EA. A racing game at heart that has guards armed with automatic rifles to shoot unarmed messenger girls in the back. Sounds like EA management at its best.

Drop the online, drop the combat. Give me ME1 or ME2 with no combat. Just delivering parcels for cash and rewards versus time. And no I don't want to compare my time to some twitch obsessed 13 year old that just doubled his Ritalin dose. I remember some twit bragging about suiciding in the game 140+ times in a row and the adults were all about why are you even on the forum? Continue jumping off ledges that are easy to jump off. Useless twit. Falling was easy, succeeding was difficult.
