Report: Sleeping Dogs HD Spotted for PS4, Xbox One

UK retailer ShopTo briefly displayed "Sleeping Dogs HD" on their storefront, with a November 21 release date.

Sleeping Dogs was one of the sleeper hits (no pun intended) of 2012, coming out of nowhere and delivering an enjoyable sandbox experience that basically put you right in the middle of a Chow Yun-Fat movie. Now, UK retailer ShopTo may have accidentally spilled the beans on a HD remake for next (current?) gen consoles.

Sleeping Dogs HD was briefly listed on their storefront, as a title for both the PS4 and Xbox One, with a November 21 release date, before being pulled. The picture looks somewhat legit, and ShopTo is a fairly major retailer. We've reached out to Square Enix for confirmation.

Last thing we heard from Sleeping Dogs studio United Front Games' is that they were working on a follow-up to Sleeping Dogs called Triad Wars. It was revealed via an off-screen teaser image in December 2013, but we haven't really heard anything about it since.

It could very well be that Triad Wars is simply a HD remix of Sleeping Dogs with additional content, which is what ShopTo has leaked. We'll update this story as we know more.

Meh. Sleeping dogs felt to me like a Batman Arkham game with reduced animations and less smooth combat, mixed with a GTA game with worse shooting and driving controls and a bland variety of weaponry. The idea sounded good on paper, but the game itself was mediocre.

Uh.........why?

Like, I can kind of understand The Last Of Us Remake, because it was a PS3 exclusive, so people may not have had the chance to play it as they didn't have a PS3.

But Sleeping Dogs came out on PC, PS3 AND 360, I wouldn't really think that it needs to be redone....

Sleeping Dogs was pretty beautiful but I can never work out why; its plot is pretty predictable, the characters all cliches, the physics were a bit crazy at times... yet it worked so well. One of the few games I 100%'d and got all the achievements on. I guess it'd be nice to replay it with extra shiny graphics though.

Sleeping dogs was a beautiful game for me as well, great fighting mechanics mixed with some GTA and great music. However I'm not really interested in a HD remake since I've played it on pc, they should just go ahead and make a sequel instead.

I think it's that because ins pite of all those things it basically did everything right, it was like playing through an old kung fu movie and incredibly enjoyable for it.

OT: Good to know there's still nothing on either of those systems to make me buy one.

I enjoyed the game alot, loved the combat mechanics, something that should have been added to Watch Dogs. Thing is there seems to be loads of HD remakes coming out, dont remember them doing that many during the PS2/Ps3, Xbox/360 cross over. You had multiplatform titles, but dont remember any specific remakes. Personally i would be happy if they did that for older games Soul Reaver etc for current gen platforms.

Yep, exactly. I mean, could we have some new games? I liked that one, but I've already played it. This shouldn't be as hard as it starting to seem like it is.

Well I own Sleeping Dogs twice over. I had the PS3 version long before I got my PC but that version runs badly and crashes like a heroin addict thats won the lottery. So I got the PC version to actually bloody play it.

But yeah, new games please, that's why I have a Wii U; it has new things.

I did like this game, finished the story very quickly and did lots of side things too. I remember thinking the city felt a bit claustrophobic but I can't really remember why, I just think it had a lot of segmented sections separated by highways or tunnels. MY ONLY REAL PROBLEM is for some stupid reason you would date someone for like one or two missions and that would be it. I know there is some report stuff in the game filling in what happened to certain girlfriends and stuff but it is still pretty stingy. I mean you give me a character who I really do like and then just pretend like I never met them afterwards.

Somehow I don't see this being fixed in the updated version. Also I get that the HD just means a higher definition than the previous version, better lighting, resolution and all that but it does seem strange when we used to call games HD remakes because they were being released in HD for the first time not just HD updates.

The only two i can think off is Bully:Scholarship edition and Lego Star Wars:Complete Saga, but yeah it was not that common back then

Whatever, just wash your hands.
And now we see why there isn't backwards compatibility on most of the new systems. I'll bet nintendo is kicking themselves for the WiiU having full backwards compatibility with wii games.

Eh, never really had an interest in Sleeping Dogs. I tried the demo and found myself bored out of my mind. I might give it another go on my PS4 though.
