Interesting point about the Nazis being radical in practice but conservative ideologically. I think we were fighting a proxy war for our political science teachers.

Yet another person who forgot too sign it "Summer Glau"
Yet another person who jumps into the tail end of a debate and tries to sound witty by quoting someone else.

Let's see George Bush playing MW2. I bet he pwnz0rz all teh newbz.
He doesn't have to play the video game. He can just go to Iraq and see what his administration has done.

IRT: I'm reading this as a pretty big desperation move. Regrettably, given how easily some of my peers are influenced, it will work.

I would be less surprised if the Democrats did so, since part of their schtick was appealing to the youth (at least this time).

Still, given that CoD is basically a game-series that celebrates a hoo-rah Republican view of war....

Hey Escapist! Keep your asses out of politics, capiche? I'm glad you guys made the religion and politics forum, but this type of bullshit doesn't belong in the newsroom.
but its news about video games with a little....sprinkle of politics added. Like a lovely ice cream sandwich but covered in shit.
It's the wording and the partisanship I'm concerned about. Bringing up the fact that this involves the moron behind the Mass Effect controversy is fine, but I, as a conservative, have played video games since before I knew how to tie my shoes. All political parties use tactics like this to gain followers, and to villainize one side for it and not the other pisses me off, almost to the point of deleting my account. I'm sure no one would care if I did, but I don't come here for political commentary from the staff, you know? It's bad journalism on their part.

the amount of fail in the above comments make me want to puke. Not all republicans are "Vid'ya game" hating windbags. Only the loud annoying ones on TV are. Grow the fuck up and learn some tolerance.

Wow, are they getting this desperate or something? There's no way they're going to erase W. Bush from my mind with a few rounds of CoD or Guitar Hero. This is them throwing a bone to a mass audience, hoping to earn their votes, trust, etc. Good luck with that, especially with Kevin McCullough. (No offense intended to any Republicans reading this.)

It's pretty fucking sad when a political party has to resort to using entertainment to recruit new members...

Considering how republicans lead the games are destroying our youth bandwagon, I find the hypocrisy of using games hilarious.
It's really about equal. The Family Entertainment Protection Act, for example, was introduced by Senator Hillary Clinton, and co-sponsored by Senators Joe Lieberman, Tim Johnson and Evan Bayh, all democrats.
I dont think we can call Lieberman a Democrat anymore... he is the top Blue Dog and those creeps are just Republicans in disguise, so mostly Dems apart from the one closeted Republican.

But yes, any government official using video games reeks of hypocrisy and desperation... if they cant get someones interest genuinely then they shouldnt try trickery.

I really wish I could be there, arguing with conservatives and playing vidjamagames. I can't imagine life being much better.

Historical context is your friend. Early American Presidents were renowned and later reviled for trying to buy votes with booze and parties. Andrew Jackson threw a huge kegger (used cider and called it something else, but the idea is the same) on the capital building's front lawn once as a way to attract voters.

So when the republicans do it, it's luring, when liberals do it, they understand the youth.

Ah, bigotry in the modern age.
All you need now is some black and white filters, and some intense music.

At least the Republicans don't try to lie about their ignorance.
