I just started watching "Full Metal Panic!"

I'd recommend it.

Seen it, I disliked it as the romantic tones didn't exactly fit my fancy. I'm not a huge romance kind of guy. I think I got up to the episode where the main girl is some sort of information key thing.

The one thing that annoys me most about a lot of Anime series' is when the Protagonist is such an idiot when it comes to romance.

I'm looking at you "Ah! My Goddess" and "Full Metal Panic!"

Know any good romance anime that doesn't have a dumb protagonist? I've already seen please teacher and its spin off.

I strongly recommend Hunter X Hunter and Bezerk, they are kinda like your basic anime with the powering up and epic battles but these 2 have great story's and a lot of mind fuck. They are pretty old though but still awesome.

Yu Yu Hakusho is a terrific anime, think DBZ but the fights don't take forever and they actually think how to win.

Welcome to the NHK was a terrific anime, funny but also a bit deep.

If you haven't already, look into FLCL (Fooly Cooly.) It's a short but hilarious anime that very well may confuse you.

Just make sure NOBODY walks in on you watching it since a lot of scenes are EXTREMELY borderline NSFW. It really takes the cake for the most perverted anime of all time. And I don't screw around when saying that.

If you like your mind being screwed with a bit try Serial Experiments Lain.

If you like whiz bang shooty fun go for an anime series called "Mezzo". The movie "Mezzo Forte" is also good, but beware some versions of it has a pornographic scene.

if you like feudal japan go for "Peace Maker". The only problem is one of the characters has an southern belle accent.

If you want a good sci-fi watch "Outlaw Star". The show has space ships with arms that they use to fight with.

If you want to watch a good drama I recommend the first 9 or 10 episodes of "Air TV". the ending to Air is literally the only one that made me shout out BULL SHIT!

If you want a nice deep philosophical anime I recommend my personal favorite "Kino's journey"

If you like dark and gritty as hell watch "Akira"
