Ok here goes, from one avid anime watcher to another, I mean, really avid watcher...

Overman King Gainer

Seriously, you will be sold with the opening song alone:

Excel Saga (A gag anime, but really fucked up.)

Scrapped Princess (though opinions might differ on this...)

GunGrave (It's a bit slow at times, but worth it.)

Wolf Rain (It got real boring half way through but I stuck with it anyway's, you might like it for the long drawn out exposition and boring dialogue, maybe.)

Golden Boy (One of the few animes I keep coming back to again and again, really, watch this, it's like six episodes but will stay with you for life...... KINTARO AWAA(OOOOEEEEE)AAAAY!)

Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (Again, be sold on the strangeness of the opening:)

[youtube:kDLUr2zKB3w]

Yakitate!! Japan (Seriously worth watching, will make you worship bread if easily influenced.)

There's many more I can recommend but other probably have in my place, to be honest I haven't read through all 4 pages of responses yet so I've left out the obvious ones others would have already made.

All these should match your tastes so give them a try.

Oh yeah, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, if no one else has mentioned it.

I take Trigun as watched and Akira, Claymore, One Piece etc right?

Edit: Read all the pages, have to add a few more;

The Yu Yu Hakusho mention reminded me of two animes worth watching, Flame of Recca and 3x3 Eyes, the former be quite good and the latter being mind blowingly awesome, you will be blown away by everything in this.

Also, Sexy Commando Gaiden, this will have you leaping of your seat shouting "WHAT THE FUCK" at the screen every other second.

GTO is worth watching too, but I would recommend the manga instead as I preferred it greatly.

Actually, the anime series of Kiss x Sis just started. But there's only one episode so far.
Yeah I heard about it, but heard that it was heavily edited. Do you have a link I don't mind watching it.

Blood+ is a really good anime - good action, some pretty deep and moving parts.

Claymore is also good. Cliche' but it's good fun if you liked early Bleach.

Rurouni Kenshin - needs no explanation

FMA: Brotherhood is even better then the first series (though the first 10 episodes or so are basically a recap of the first series, then it goes on with new stuff from the manga)

I haven't watched Gantz or Berserk yet but I've heard good things about them and plan to watch them when I have time.

Edit: Trinity Blood is also good, though it ended prematurely because the author died.

Serial Experiments Lain is enjoyable. It's also very relevant. It predicted a lot of how the internet would integrate itself with society.
Until I read that just then I'd forgotten that it was made back in 1998. They did a really good job of predicting the internet's impact on society, the only that's in there that we don't have is a virtual god.

Alpha: <3 the avatar.
It's kind of redundant though. If she knew she could summon a Persona she'd be on the very edge of realising that she's a god, therefore the Evoker would become useless as she could summon Personas at will, followed by realising that she could just kill the enemy by making them no longer exist.
[sub]I'm thinking about this far too much[/sub]

Just a question for you guys. I've watched a fair bit of anime, but I think I've hit an invisible wall as I'm finding it harder and harder to find an anime that suits my tastes. I know this has happened a many a time in this forums, a guy asking "recommend me an anime" so there's a question at the bottom unrelated to the topic at hand.

anime I've seen and liked.

Tenjou Tenge, Hellsing (non ova), Bleach (before it sucked), Code Geass, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist (non ova) Soul Eater (ending made me cry... because it was so bad.) Air Gear, Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bebop (if my avatar wasn't obvious enough), Elfen Lied, Tengen Toppa Gurenn Lagann, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Katekyo Hitman Reborn (I stopped watching when they included the future or some crap), Neon Genesis Envengellion, Samurai Champloo, Samurai 7, Trigun, Zombie Loan, and many many others that I just can't recall.

If you're a fan of anime, and have seen a bunch you should get the theme of the animes I mentioned. Story, Mindfuck, action. Preferably all mixed together (good example, Code Geass).

Now for those who were looking for a discussion adding question: What the heck was the deal with Neon Genesis Evengellions ending? Did that make any sense what so ever? The segue between episode 23 or so to the episode 25-26 was so painful that the whiplash caused thunderous echoes across the world. Did he just go crazy or what?

*edit, Sorry I didn't include the list of animes I disliked. also I forgot to add "Gundam Seed".

*Final Edit.

OK I saw the movie. Thoughts ...
1)wha-? uhh.. ok.
2) Those are some mountainous knockers right there.
3)OK... that makes the other stuff make more sense but... fuck it I've understood all I will of this stuff. Mind fuck, my ass. this stuff is a weapon of mass destruction, it'll wipe your sentience away in mere moments.
Probably been suggested before, but Ergo Proxy. I'm currently watching it and its pretty good.

G Gundam is a really great Action BOOM BOOM Anime with some Decent story and great Characters.

Rurouni Kenshin is AMAZING(the manga at least) The anime is decent as well mixing story, romance, comedy, action, and history all into one unbelievably good package.

Paranoia Agent is a really great Mind F and Fooly Cooly is a great comedic Mind F that deals with some dark themes.
I know iv seen more that fit your taste but of course as soon as someone asks me about them i forget.
:p
If i think of any more ill post an EDIT.
Te Rurouni Kenshin anime is good up to the end of the Shishio ark, then it's OK when they fight that Christian guy with hiten mitsurugi ryu; but after that it just falls into filler and you have some sort of national treasure type thing and a feng-shui battle. You can basically switch to Samurai X or the manga at this point and be the better for it (both are awesome).

Recommending anime...If you like panty shots (lots of them) I would recommend Rosario vampire (anime). The manga is also pretty good though.
Yea the Rurouni Kenshin manga is my favorite manga.
And the Rosario+Vampire Manga is pretty good as well, there is also significantly less panty shots (which i think is great, im not bit on fanservice)in the manga compared to the anime(from what iv seen)

I just started watching "Full Metal Panic!"

I'd recommend it.
Seen it, I disliked it as the romantic tones didn't exactly fit my fancy. I'm not a huge romance kind of guy. I think I got up to the episode where the main girl is some sort of information key thing.
The one thing that annoys me most about a lot of Anime series' is when the Protagonist is such an idiot when it comes to romance.

I'm looking at you "Ah! My Goddess" and "Full Metal Panic!"
Know any good romance anime that doesn't have a dumb protagonist? I've already seen please teacher and its spin off.
I'd recommend Vampire Knight, mixes romance and action quite well and the protagonist Yuuki Cross is not useless. Rule one, never piss off a Pureblood Vampire Princess who can wield an anti-vampire weapon.

Monster. Loved it, but few share this sentiment.

Also, I have now a compulsion to read Kiss x Sis.
Go read it, but I warn you it really is the most perverted series of all time and I don't fuck around when I say that.
So I must brace myself and give myself plenty of mental preparation first huh. Interesting.

I've read more of the manga than the anime of rosario+vampire and the story is quite good.
There is another anime that is also seems to provide its own fan service. I can't quite remember its name but its something like three girls want this average seeming guy because his offspring will be the greatest mage in the world or something... But yeah, fan service in anime is just weird sometimes.

I dont know, i remember one Anime about a few girls that want this guy because their kid will become the greatest martial artist in the world.

Im not into Fanservice, ill stomach it for a good series but if it gets to bad im outta there.
