And of the global market compared to the US market. What the source of either article is talking about is valid and non contradictory. However the headlines and the content of both articles is so awful, (I mean I didn't even read the linked article! I just looked at the graph and I already picked up more informatin and made less factual errors with the article in one glance than the entire Escapist article contains) that they end up contradicting each other. The articles aren't great but the headlines just take it to another levelMemor-X said:

I think someone should administer some English language tests to Escapist "journalists". The war is over now we can rebuild and try to move gaming forward! Or this is just another ceasefire that will last a few weeks then back to war and the 38th parallel to measure our sales and I can go back to living vicariously through the sales of my console of choice.
Any chance of getting the ridiculous sensationalist headline changed? I come to the escapist to get away from that crap. Not even considering that the headline is just plain incorrect when you take into consideration actual number of consoles shipped then microsoft actually lost this gen
I don't know what it is, some people seem to have had 3 or 4 xboxs or ps3s I've never had anything go wrong with my xbox in the 3 years I've had it. Back in England, my ps3 broke once, because I stupidly had it in a cupboard where all the heat got trapped and it had nowhere to vent. The main 'vent' for the xbox is on the right side of if, if you have your xbox vertical then don't be surprised when the insides of your xbox liquify.
I honestly hate all the hype surrounding console wars. This mattered a really long time ago, but it seems so pointless now. Console choice is a matter of personal preferences. I like all three for different reasons, but I like all of them the same because they compliment each other so well. Really, I just like games. And there are some games I can`t get on other systems so why not have all three? They all cost about the same and you can get them relatively cheaply if you look hard enough.
There was a war? Im sorry but from the magnanimous possition of my PC throne i payed it no heed. I just carried on with my life and lost no sleep what-so-ever.

This might be the worst Escapist Article I've ever read. And there's been some bad ones like slamming Sony for their limited edition golden VIAO that costed like 2000 bucks.

Looking at the figures im not surprised. I had a PS1 and then bought a PS2 based on loving a PS1. Also bought an Xbox and then the whole PS3 pricing etc made me buy a 360. Now it seems Sony got the ego that felt people will just pay whatever with there logo and with how PS2 owned a huge amount of the console market i cant disagree with there thinking that much. But that ego is still alive, with tvs etc and Sony refuse to compete and live on their brand. Its a shame as the PS2 was awesome.
I'm slowly starting to realize why Andy Chalk isn't well liked for his journalism as for the last few articles that I have read by him have been extremely heavy handed with bias on the situation and have contained rather misleading content. Though I myself am probably not the best person to be a journalist, I feel like most people could do better than this.
OT: And Gangnam Style has the most hits on Youtube, that hardly makes it the grand master piece. I don't like the Xbox. Of all the gaming platforms, it is the one with the least amount of exclusive content. Every(and I mean every, even the IPhone) other gaming platform has something to offer more so than a 360, where the only legitimate exclusive of anything for it is Halo and a few XBLA games that will probably go to steam soon enough. It is a wanna-be computer with a monthly fee and fewer games and customability. At least the Wii and PS3 have more than one franchise that's actually exclusive to their platform. I don't care if it's online service is slightly better; it costs money for services that are pretty minimalistic for what these products became, and a few things that the PS3 and Wii couldn't do, but were so minute that spending more than 2 dollars on any other platform for them and it would have been a rip off.

You can't judge the winner of a console war by the number of consoles sold. If you are then the wii wins as it is one of the best selling consoles of all time. In fact if my memory serves correctly the wii out sold the ps2, or in other words more units sold doesn't mean it is better. Also didn't the PS3 out sell the xbox 360 in world wide sales not to long ago, and why are console wars still a thing can't we just grow up and enjoy what ever system we prefer instead of comparing it to our friend preference.
So Xbox 360s will outsell PS3 and Wii, when the next generation is in full swing, and games will probably long since have stopped being produced for the previous generation. The PS2 lasted until just recently and is concidered the best selling console of all time, but even in it's time it was the power house of that generation. The Wii won while it was still relivant, and even then it was speculated the ratio of games to consoles was 1.5/1. Where most people kept just the Wii Sports and nothing more. Even then the hardware sold is not the biggest income to the companies. It's the number of games. the PS2 was still being made, but only a handfull of games were being released into it's twilight, and those were mainly sports and shovelware.
The next generation is yet to be seen, and will probably weigh on exclusive titles. The age of gimics I hope has died with the patheric performence of the Kinect and the Move, even the Will had fallen back on using more traditional controller, in the loosest use of the term of course.
