Research Firm Predicts Xbox 360 Will Outpace Wii, PS3

Is this a troll article? The 360 and PS3 will be superseded by the end of the year and if history is any indication we can expect the 360 to stop being manufactured shortly thereafter in favour of the next gen. The PS3 might carry on (since the PS2 only stopped being manufactured this year) but they're not going to maintain anything like the numbers they are now.

Didn't we have another article about how the PS3 was finally beating the 360? SO CONFUSED!

And the loser is everyone. Because we are still nowhere close to the "One game purchase play anywhere on anything" future that we should be heading to.

Long as console wars exist there will be companies preying on your mindless loyalty to a platform that you have to pay for to use it in the first place. Not that the next generation will be any better people will still be the exact same teenagers humming "Genesis does what Nintendon't." like in the 90's. Because the simple fact that you have something someone else doesn't, means it has to be better or otherwise it loses all meaning.

Also GUD JURNALIMES Escapist.

2 days ago: Playstation beat out 360 in sales.

Today: NOPE! It apparently didn't.

Tomorrow: PSVITA outsold WiiU.

Actually, technically I believe that journalism died last year Grey.

Although technically the "birth date" should be 1594 like you said.

I, for one, welcome our new Xbox overlords.

In fact, I myself purchased three Xbox 360s just the other day!

Who needs a Wii, Wii U, PC, or PS3 when you could just stock up on Xbox 360s?

I don't even know why I purchased them! It was like something was just compelling me, telling me that the three years I've owned a PS3 have all been a horrible, horrible lie.

Truly, very well done. I do honestly hope that Chalk is fired for this article. I mean, there's this now in addition to that time where he indirectly insult me. So, yeah.

Oh, and regarding my accusation, it happed was in this article: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.353307-EA-Unveils-First-Medal-of-Honor-Warfighter-Trailer

Okay, because I'm starting to get angry about the joking about the subtitle, I have to ask you to read this piece of writing I saw on the MoH twitter feed:
http://www.army.mil/features/WhoIsTheWarfighter/default.html
and kindly give it a rest. Based on everything they've said about the game, "Warfighter" is very well representative of what they're going for.

I really don't want to start up some flames here but of course the xbox 360 sold more for many decent reasons. Aside from having huge flaws in design that bricked many consoles with the RROD or Microsoft bricking the device if it is modded in any-way. If I recall nearly up to a million where bricked due to modding so it really helped with sales of their console to win this race/sarcasm.

Oh come on, I can't be the only one that saw the name "DFC Intelligence" and giggled. You fail me internet.

OT: It's hardly surprising that with the library that the 360 offers, second hand titles in mass for cheap and cheapening price on the console itself would lead to more sales after this much time. The 360 is a very accessible console with an appealing library to many so it's to be expected that sales would continue to roll forward.

Just saying, the article was a straight joke making the original title sensationalist bile.

Published 3 day ago.

The way you stop me calling Escapist journalism a joke is to start using titles like "Analysts predict the 360 will have sold the most consoles by 2017"

And stop using headlines like
"Xbox 360 Wins the Console War"

Its controversial and gets hits, maybe even funny. It's also a really bad way to conduct a news section. And leads to you publishing two articles within 3 days, whose headlines flatout contradict each other. The joke isn#t meant to be you

(Also you might note that this is US sales only, because we#ve already sold twice as many PS3's globally as the 'winning' Xbox sales in 2017. I'm just saying that the way you phrase it makes it sound like the article you've linked to hasn't been properly read. It even says US in the tagline)

EDIT: Thanks for changing, I appreciate it. I've been a bit heavy handed and I'm thankful you just made the correction, despite the criticism...

Now if you could just mention someone that it#s only predicted to outsell in the US and those are only US figures of predictions you're quoting there, not the global sales (I mean the 360 has already sold 70 million consoles as reported in the Escapist article I'm linking to) =D
As you said the PS3 has overtaken the 360, I agree they will probably beat the Wii but I don't agree the 360 will win, esp by that amount.

while that is partly to blame i still think all of these misleading titles, article lead ins that misrepresent the contents of the articles, and hard stretches of the source material are all designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator and get these people raging without reading, instead of being a decent source of news. i was brought here by something that isn't here anymore, and i am starting to wonder if i should stick around.

and for the others, i don't think attacking people who are concerned about this is the right way to discuss this either.

Hmm, who is sill letting Andy Chalk write articles?

That wasn't rhetorical by the way.

I began to notice some of his more, er, intriguing articles that got my proverbial knickers in a twist, so I just assumed that my opinions were in the minority. This man is the lowest form of game journalism on the Escapist.

This is not me defending the 360, hell, I don't even own one of the bloody things. According to his Twittter, he claims to not own a 360, but his account has XboX Live linked to it, with several recent games.

This is more about fair journalism on the Escapist that really needs some buggering quality control! /rant

I'm just gonna jump in here and say I have no issue with this article. It's a fun read reporting on what some people think will happen with console sales.

Seriously though, who is coming to the Escapist expecting "professional", dry, just the facts journalism? All the writers here put a bit of personality into what they write and that's why I like to read them. Andy Chalk's articles are easily my favourite out of the newsies, and this article is just what I've come to expect and look forward to from him.
