Resistance 2: Ya'll play it?

Hey Escapists! I'm new here, so be nice if this has already been discussed.

How many of you guys still play Resistance 2 online? I've noticed a huge surge in the number of people on multiplayer, and I guess it's due to the price drop for the PS3! Either way, it's an excellent game, and I encourage those of you who have a PS3, but don't get online much because of the Playstation's reputation for having dead servers, to jump into the fight! The leveling system is fun, earning new equipment is a good motivator, and it plays just as smooth as Halo or what have you.

And to make this topic more useful, what do you think of Resistance 2 as a game? What do you think of PSN's reputation for being dead among XBox and PC users? DISCUSS, DAMMIT!!!

I was going to buy it, but I figured I need to play the first one first. Just for continuity.

Same thing with Uncharted, but there I already completed both of them.

Resistance 2 looks really good, though. 8-player coop - awesome.

The Co-Op is AMAZING.
I don't think that playing the first game is necessary for getting a sound grip on the story, but I commend your effort in keeping stories intact. I know I did it with Mass Effect, and I don't regret it.

I second this. God I loved the Co-Op. I always played medic, not only was he just so fun to me, but he also looked like a Ghostbuster. Unfortunately I no longer have the game, but I have Demon's Souls to fill it's hole.

I just bought a PS3 a month back,since then, I buy a new PS3 game every week, for this week I'm deciding whether to get Resistance 2 or Heavy Rain.

I'm not a online gaming(on consoles) enthusiast,so I'll prolly gonna get Heavy Rain first,then I'll get Resistance 2,but will mostly play offline and be done with it.

Well,if i can buy a new lan hub later,then maybe I'll go online.

I don't think that playing the first game is necessary for getting a sound grip on the story, but I commend your effort in keeping stories intact. I know I did it with Mass Effect, and I don't regret it.

You wake up 2 years after the first game put you in a coma. Trust me, there's absolutely NO need to play the first one first. By all means buy and play it later, the co-op is awesome, but you don't need to play the series in order.

I played it when it first came out. I only played the co-op though, never tried the competitive multiplayer. From what I remember it was a lot of fun.

To be honest,I'm tempted to get Demon's Souls for awhile(I always buy Atlus's games when i could xD),but I've been told that DS is really hard,like REALLY hard.

I have no doubt that it's a great game,but i don't wanna buy a great game that will pissed me off (Killzone 2 is one as such)

Maybe I'll get DS later when they have new stock of Zone 1 disc for the game,i rather read player hints in English instead of Engrish,thanks for the recommendation though.

Someone else doesn't like Killzone 2? Yayness! But still, I recommend DS. It can be hard, but once you get past the first level, you can just start summoning people to help you(most of the time), which makes the game much easier and much more fun.

I have never played XBL but I have never found myself wanting mew features on PSN, although I am not the social type (AKA, I have never played a match with even one friend), so my opinion is kind of worthless.

I do know that PSN is very active.

Resistance 2 co-op is amazing fun! The leveling is very slow though and you have to play the same map an ungodly amount of times before unlocking a new one. Although there are about 20 sections to the same map and you only play 10 of them so it varies every time.

The more traditional multi-player isn't so hot but still enjoyable.

Whoopsy. I knew that. Its an abbreviation of "you and "all." I guess "Ya'll" would be an abbreviation of "yam" and "mall" or something. Damn English and its not having a proper second person plural! Wir sind verrückt!

What do you guys think of Insomniac as a whole? The first video game I ever played was Spyro (the original), and I've been a fan of their style ever since. Ratchet and Clank is a FUNNY game series as well. I don't take them as seriously as, say, Bioware or Valve, but the make games that are just plain FUN.

It was very boring and didn't much interest me. The game gradually became more and more dull as I progressed. Also, for some reason, everything was in a shade of red, and no matter how much I changed my televisions contrast and color, it would saty a shade of goddamn red. But maybe i'm the only one who had that problem.

Irritating none-the-less. I do not recommend it.

Giant bug like alien things come out of no where that are like the scarabs from The Mummy and kill things in 50's south england. That's basicaly the first one.

I like the original more, but the second was OK. Didn't catch that you against an unstoppable force feeling the last one did. Multiplayer was a blast though. The Co-op was brilliant.
