Gameplay is kinda meh, but the environments look pretty damn cool. Worth picking it up from that alone to me.
That was my point to begin with, except I couldn't be sure you had even played Resistance at all. You've just given me an inclination now that you haven't.northeast rower said:Well sadly, that's not my opinion. I'll be happy to give Resistance a go, but my point was that even as a huge fan of Halo (yes, I am aware of how generic the games as a whole are) Resistance doesn't excite me. It looks like every other shooter out there- Homefront, CoD, you name it. Then again, a big part of the reason I love Halo is because of the online functionality, which can be pared down into three separate pieces: Bungie's care for it's fanbase, the encouraged player creativity through file-sharing and Forge, and the depth of the online component. I'll reserve my judgement of this game until I see the multiplayer in action.pulse2 said:I think you should facepalm, because its kind of contradictory that you say Resistance looks like every other game on the market (I'm assuming you're talking about FPS because I fail to see how this looks anything like Gran Turismo for example) then go on to say you put Halo into your top 5.
All that reads to me is "Halo was so damn good all other shooters look meh besides it", which is fine if that's your opinion, but before making that comment, give it a go. Otherwise I could say the same about most games. Yeah, it's an FPS, it would look like other FPS titles because....it is an FPS.
To clarify, when I said "Resistance" I meant "Resistance 3". The thing is, Halo and CoD have something to distinguish them from the competition: Halo has a gigantic user-created catalogue of maps, films, gametypes, etc., and CoD has... well, it used to have a huge unlock-based multiplayer experience, but I think that... well, PM me if you want my opinion on the CoD series (not bad, not great).pulse2 said:That was my point to begin with, except I couldn't be sure you had even played Resistance at all. One could take the veiw that Halo Reach was just another Halo, played one, played them all, would that be a sensible decision?
What annoys me is that people play CoD and Halo and suddenly expect all other games to meet that same expectation because apperently they were the epitome of originality, when they do, the game is given the copycat status and when they don't its labeled boring or generic. Resistance isn't trying to be a Halo or CoD so give it some credit. Play the game, you may or may not like it, it isn't to everyone's taste, but I can personally certainly say from experience I have a blast on Resistance multiplayer.
I wonder if you will go to that planet or moon thing that was in the sky at the end of the second game.Memor-X said:video isn't loading for me, dam it Aura!
anyway, i got into Resistance when i was still into FPSs, the latest ones have been real crap as they seem to focus only on the action and not much on the mechanics, but i want to get this game because i want to know how the story ends, the Resistance Series won't end until Humanity has won and Earth is back to normal as the series isn't set in the future but in the past (Alternate History)
it's good to see your play as Capillie now, he's the only Sentinel left from the 2nd game who's part Chimera, if your playing as him though must mean Makarov is still around giving him the Inhibitors to keep the virus in check, hopefully this game reveals who "them" are (nathen and Dedalus both say "Can you not hear Them, it is beautiful"), who created the Gray tech in the first place, what the Prometheus Weapon actually did to Earth and just what the Chimera are since the intel does say that though the Chimera Virus was alien to begin with, it seems as if it was made to target humans (Makarov's notes, think in the 2nd last mission), a friend of mine thinks that the game is hinting on about a ancient race of humans who was far advance and was killed off by the Chimera but did foil the Chimera's plans and seal the Chimera under the earth along with the race's technology so humans won't come across it my mistake and unleash the Chimera again and that the race may be Atlantis, but she likes Atlantis and thinks there's a super weapon there
Don't get me wrong, lol, I'm not arguing. I just didn't get the initial point, so I thought I'd pull you up on it. I get what you're saying about Halo and CoD distinguishing themselves, but its not as though they were completely and 100% original in the same way that say, Mario was when it first released. Halo took lots of different existing concepts and merged them together and it worked because there was a powerful platform to put all of those concepts on. Other then their unique twist (character designs, enemy designs, story etc), there isn't an idea in Halo I can say was 100% brand spanking new. But yet still, people gave it a chance and suprisingly found it more fun than they could handle.northeast rower said:To clarify, when I said "Resistance" I meant "Resistance 3". At any rate, my point is that Resistance 3 is looking to copy the campaigns of other shooters, but that's OK because there's not much more that can be done with shooter campaigns short of messing with the storyline (I think that Black Ops was a step in the right direction for this, pulling a massive Fight Club at the end that completely destroys what you thought had happened). As for the online, we'll have to see.
I'm just gonna suggest right now that you and I stop arguing because we clearly don't understand each other and this is going nowhere.
Hells yes, you do. I'd go on a rant, I would, about the improvements made in this gameplay footage.Woodsey said:It's not bad looking.
I guess you have to have played the first two to find this interesting.
