Dead Money is pretty much an exercise in bad game design.

Enemies that a nigh-invincible to anything less to a maxed-out melee character, stealth is impossible (I know, I've tried), constantly draining health courtesy of the "this DLC was still too easy before, so lets a BS health removal mechanic to add artificial difficulty" desk, and a useless end-of-game reward that can't be carried by most player characters, and even those who can won't get much use out of it.

Some nice characters can't make up for that.
Really I had no issues with the enemies being "nigh-invincible", just carry around a spear, shoot them in the head until they go down, pull out the spear and wail away at their body! Stealth is hard I know (The enemies have a perception of 9 [near perfect]), but really they take like 10 seconds to get back up, that's long enough for you to you know, RUN LIKE HELL! Aslo the health draining wasn't that bad, just don't run into the obvious red cloud of death! Also your supposedly "useless" reward is actually EXTREMELY useful, you inventory is bordering on empty anyway so just drop any extra items you may have and run for the exit with as much as you can carry (I got 3 bars out with a strength of 6 with the auto rifle and the jumpsuit and both of Vera's Dresses), altogether I got 21k caps from the gold, that's double what I got from finding all the snowglobes

Russ, I wish more reviewers would mention things like Sexy dresses in DLC. Seriously, the whole Kasumi's stolen Memory Mass effect DLC woulda been justified by Shepard's new threads alone.

Now hold on a minute, I'm stealthing just fine and I'm carting a stealth.unarmed character. Half the time the Ghost people seem to be waiting for me to punch them in the back. Of course I have 90 stealth, silent running and ninja. I don't know what you're trying to do or with what stats but impossible? Hardly.

It sounds to me like your excursion into the DLC went badly so you got sore about it.

Nice review, might consider getting it.

And a important side note concerning "Dog": Schizophrenia is definitly not the same as a split personality. That would be a dissociative identity disorder.

It was cute to hear Russ try to make sexy cat noises. ROAAAAAAAAAAAR. I AM SEXY.

Does anyone else think this DLC is out a little early, especially considering how bad the game launch was?

That's old school fallout. It doesn't play nice, It wont hold your hand, nor be your shoulder to cry on.
Except when you can walk right into an enclave base, grab the best armor and weapon, and walk out.

*snip*
They give you a really powerful energy weapon when you wake up (Holorifle). There are conventional firearms everywhere. I went through Dead Money without using a melee weapon once.

Did you try to run this DLC at low level? There is a warning that it is recommended for levels 20+ or 25+.

D'oh. I misread it as 'Dead Monkey'.

EDIT: also, Russ Pitts saying 'Sexy beast' with a growl may be the scariest thing I've ever heard.

I agree, Dead Money was well worth my 800MSP.

Also all the spoilerific foreshadowing really got me excited for the next batch of DLC.

Oh Bethesda/Obsidian... you tease me so.
Has Obsidian been working on New Vegas? if so I was completely oblivous.

Am i the only one that has had zero issues with this game? I have yet to come across any bugs in this game and i am on the 3rd play through.
Oh really? Try doing the Van Graff's last mission just after receiving Render Unto Caesar from Vulpes Inculta. It took me ages to get the main mission to a playable state, and I had to kill everyone at the fort to do so, let alone actually complete Render Unto Caesar.

Gotta say, there are entirely too many colons in that title. I'm actually disturbed by the idea of an expansion to a sequel of a remake. How much farther can you dilute a single franchise?

Fallout: New Vegas: Dead Money: The Graphic Novel?

Fallout: New Vegas: Dead Money: The Graphic Novel: The Prequel?

There's episodic games, and then there's being A CORPORATE BASTARD.

Actually, on second thought...no. There really aren't any episodic games <_<

Sounds shiny. Can't wait for it to come over to my system of choice, especially since after leaving Veronica all sad and alone, I want to kick Father Elijah in the groin. Repeatedly.

The best part of new vegas is the freedom, going where I want with my own guns, characters and companions. Levelling up and tailoring my character to be just like me, my guns changing just as I please adding even more freedom and customization so that I can overcome any and all obstacles the open world throws at me. Corridor crawling with the same guns, companions and stats doesn't sound too enjoyable.
Trust me it isn't. I don't know if the climax makes up for it or something but I played a little bit of this at a friends house and I wasn't very impressed at all.

I'm actually appalled that they asked for any money for this one. This game is such a travesty, they should give players a free dlc pack.

That said, I am never getting any dlc for this game. It barely works as it is. They fooled me into pre-ordering New Vegas (I really liked Fallout 3) but I'm not buying anything of theirs I can't rent first from now on.

I was wondering the same thing about the dress. Luckily it changes into a snazzy tuxedo for guys and why Russ was playing as a girl?

Personally I was a little dissapointed by this DLC - it starts off all 'survial horror' but ends up the usual 'kill anything that moves' by the end of it. Even my steath specialist had more money, med kits, food, ammo and weapons to dispatch any number of ghost people with relative ease.

I did find it funny as well how you can enter the DLC area with companions and get 'knocked out' to enter the DLC content your companions just run off - "Oh well, I guess he wanted a nap, lets just leave him to it" :p

I played it on hardcore mode straight away and finished it within 4 hours I think - the ghost people move around alot but with good enough skills and VATs it makes short work of them (even shorter if you use energy weapons with the holo rifle or melee specialist).

Once you've figured out that the ghost people aint all that bad it stops being difficult and almost tedious - especially when you get into the hotel itself because it stops being 'survival horror' at all and just seems to give you 3 meaningless quests, running around a mainly empty hotel to 'tie up lose ends' of your team mates (either befriend or kill them)

Even the loot at the end of the game (all the gold bars) is annoying as you can't carry that many (I had a guy who was 10 str and I still only managed 3 or 4 bars) and to sell a bar will max most shops out of caps leaving you to find someplace else or just wait before you can sell another bar.

I dunno - maybe Im just a little bored of it since I played through it 3 times with different characters already. I like what they tried to do, but it didn't seem to stick throughout the duration of the DLC.

Oh and the dress - on a guy it looks like a suit - I gave one to Veronica since shes always asking for one :D
