In the last rp I joined I set up a prequel arc with one of the other players. We actually got some pretty good characterisation in. It was done in pm and didn?t affect the main plot at all it just added some shared backstory between our characters.
Providing SW is cool with it anyone interested?
Any questions just ask.
Mongrel and Bartelby might have some history I suppose. We're the only two who are factionless so it makes sense we might already know each other.

I don't know, got anything in mind with Bartelby? I'd run a prequel arc.

If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say my character would be very nervous about the giant wrench. And then would spend some time dodging the giant wrench. And would later tell stories about the blue haired mad-woman who tried to kill him with a giant wrench.

Seriously though, I don't know. Under the right circumstances I can see our characters having a buddy-buddy thing going on, with your character being the one in charge while mine is just trying to avoid being hit with a wrench. Your primary alleigance appears to be to building things instead of to the Red Eagles, which makes you one of the people who doesn't have an immediate rationale to try and kill me. Its hard to dislike people who aren't trying to kill you.

I fully endorse the idea of mutual back-stories; to me it seems like an excellent idea.

As for Shannow, he will be in the RP. I hope to be more a player than a GM, since I prefer to play with as little GM aid as possible. As Green Jewel Leader, I'll be able to shape the story without resorting to simply molding the world with GM-powers. All players are welcome to have history with Shannow, regardless of faction

Horary glad you approve.
So I already might be doing something with Khedive Rex but is would anyone else be interested in some mutual back-story?
I would be interested I mean even though my character is part of the red eagles he is always one to shoot only when shot at and considering his reckless actions he would properly get injured a decent amount.

Alright. I'll cave. Here's my character sheet.

Name: Wilkes Salt [though he commonly addresses himself as Mr. Salt]

Faction: Red Eagles

Appearance: Standing at 6'0" tall with a wide build, Mr. Salt carries an imposing appearance; gaunt facial features, thick sinewy neck and limbs, and cold green eyes. Despite the conditions of his clothes, Mr. Salt dresses conservatively; wears suits and ties [ususally unkempt or dirty]. Also makes an effort to conceal his face; wears sunglasses and a fedora on his person.

Personality: Mr. Salt is a very patient individual, willing to wait for days for the things he needs. But this patience is not to be confused for tolerance and he is not a tolerant man; if he thinks you screwed him over, expect judgement to come in the form of high explosives. Outside his patience he is obsessed with maintaining a professional aura, especially when dealing with others. Also has serious lechery and will make attempts to cop a feel and/or seduce any beautiful woman in sight [but not publicly since this is not professional.]

His personal goal is to unite the Eagles under one banner - preferably his; ties this to his belief that an organized front would better his chances for long-term survival in this world. He has no serious grudges against the Eyes or Jewels, but sees them as impossible to work with; the Eyes because of genetic 'superiority'; and the Jewels because of their dogmatic ways.

Equipment:

Modified 10mm pistol[12 round magazine][status: used] with 24 basic rounds
2 frag grenades
3 frag mines
Brass Knuckles
1 First Aid Kit

Resources: Through a few acts of treachery and killing, Mr. Salt had acquired a small weapons cache; no doubt garnering enemies in the process. Cache includes:

2 10mm pistols[12 round magazine each][status:used and fatigued respectively]
74 10mm rounds [48 basic rounds, 26 Armor-Piercing rounds]
1 recoil mod.

The cache is in a secure location known only to him. Used strictly for business transactions. Doesn't believe in owning a means for transportation, not when there are others who have vehicles.

Quote: "The Most civilized thing a man can do in this world is converse at gunpoint."

Does that mean you're also running PM backstory sessions? I must admit, I kinda want to get into a chase scene with Shannow. Set him up in Bartelby's mind as some kind of inhuman spectre, the most difficult person Bartelby has ever escaped from. And of course, I'd love for Bartelby to be "the one that got away", with or without scars. Does that work with your character? Obviously, if you have another idea just let me know.

And, like avouleance2nd and 3W, if anyone in the thread wants history with Bartelby just let me know.

Hmm it could be cool if Jenny worked with Shannow once, perhaps escorting him to a distant part of the City that even he thought was too far to walk to.

Also, when will we be getting started?

Edit:

Also some questions about the Green Jewels:

1st. What exactly qualifies as a heretic? Is it just someone who has been show to be unfaithful and subversive to the order? Or could they also be all kinds of criminals? My idea for the latter is that there would be two kinds of "Heretics": Petty Heretics, those who commit crimes like robbery, battery, and murder, they're killed by Inquisitors on the spot; and High Heretics, who have betrayed the Green King through preaching something other that official canon, or have shown to be unfaithful, High Heretics are captured by Inquisitors, and taken too the temple to be tried, and are then executed in a public ceremony.

2nd. What's the leadership like? Is there one supreme leader? Or is it a council of elders?

Farley wouldn't make a good mentor.

Before I forget, can you describe Blue Towers in a little bit more detail, so we don't have different visualizations clashing in-game? How are they fortified, exactly? And a rough idea of how this city is laid out wouldn't hurt either. How many miles across is it? Where is the Green Jewels' dome? Is there a wall around the city? Any major highways that would play a role in territory wars? Any major resource locations that they'd be fighting over, like electrical or water plants?

EDIT: Since we're apparently having a backstory session, I'll go ahead and say that it wouldn't be unlikely for Farley to have run into a few of you, as he travels the city regularly.

The backstory's good, send me a PM if you want to clarify. Perhaps Jenny escorted Shannow to a mission outside of Grenn Jewels territory. Personally recovering a recently discovered piece of old tech?

As for details, here goes...

1. Heresy is, in the end, anything the Green Jewels leaders disapprove of. Lack of faith is, as you say, a 'major' crime, while the 'lesser' crimes are any crime against the Green Jewels. There is no fixed rules, only what the preachers and the inquisition lay down as they see fit. A sufficiently high ranking leader can pronounce judgment and execute justice when and wherever they want.

2. The leadership is flexible. Anyone with sufficient charisma and apparent faith can be a leader; they simply play it by the Book and no one dares to contradict it. (the Book being The Book of the Jewels, their holy book). Shannow is the overall leader for two reasons: first, he knows the Book so well that some people think he wrote it, and second because he scares most people shitless when he gets angry.

I dont think Red would either considering he pretty much always manages to piss off the Blue leaders.

EDIT: Since we're apparently having a backstory session, I'll go ahead and say that it wouldn't be unlikely for Farley to have run into a few of you, as he travels the city regularly.
The Blue Towers are half a dozen towers in the central district of the city. Between them span dozen of bridges capable of carrying convoys of vehicles, and they also connect to the nearby buildings. However, many bridges connecting to the outside world have been demolished, and now each tower only has one tower that does leads out of their territory; these bridges are guarded, and bear turret emplacements to deter unwelcome visitors.
On ground level, the entrances to the towers are heavily fortified, with thick steel doors and indoor rooms designed to provide the maximum killing ground. At street level, 10 men could hold an equally equipped force of 30 or more. Safe to say, no one tries.
The Towers have all the various areas required to live; living pace, medical bays, hydroponic vats to create basic edible compounds (though scavenging is required for better foods) garages, weapons factories, etc.

The City is vast. A megapolis by our standards, it was standard size when the Atomic Fire Deluge came (We're talking a radius of over a hundred miles). The Jewel's temple is in the factory district, in the shell of an old automated construction area (it is said the Green King guided the thinking machines to build Him a temple, and that they will defend it in times of need). The factory district is midway out for the centre, in the northwest of the city. There, the buildings a low but sprawling, often extending underground, and in stark contrast to the Blue Towers

The City extends out beyond the original city, as the various inhabitants have built ramshackle structures out as far as they can before the radiation starts becoming a serious problem. The Red Eagles influence is most concentrated in these outskirts, where the law of sorts that the greens and Blues exert is weakest, and the clans and rabble-rousers can gather the most support, and people are most in need of comradeship

Tactical focuses will be food and medicine caches (even the Blues like a little variety or stockpile), places where old tech has been found, and functioning auto-factories, which are rare and massively useful, being able to produce things far faster and finer than any human hand, and will continue to do so until they run out of resource, or one of the viruses infect it. (there are quite a few nasty computer viruses lurking around, remnants from the Bad Old Days and the Deluge. there isn't much tech they can attack these days, but anything left over from the War will be quickly overrun)
The roadmap of the city is now three dimensional, though the bridges can be brought down with sufficient explosive. If you want to control he transport routes, then you have to control places where they all meet; transport hubs and the hyper-malls are prime targets. Outside the old city, the transport return to conventional ground roads. However, the roads hardly deserve the word, since they're more like rubble strewn alleys. You'd need a hundred of men to control a kilometer of 'road'

Anything else you'd like to know? I'll try and get this stuff up on the OP, and get an accepted list up too.

Starting will be soon, but I don't know quite when. I'm working on an essay right now, so we'll see once thats done...

i need more RPs!
Name: Skye D.

Faction: Green Jewels

Appearance: Skye is a lanky 14 year old girl with tan skin. She has silver hair that hangs down midback and bangs that cover her blue-green eyes when she looks down. She dresses and acts like a boy because of a run in she had with the Red Eagles when she was younger, when they took her older sister. The only time she wears anything that suggests otherwise is during formal, private gatherings for the Jewels, far from the eyes of any other faction. Usually seen in a black shirt (to hide the bandages she uses to wrap her chest) and a green and white jacket, and black cargo pants. She is only a trainee, so she takes informal lessons from other Green Jewel members in various subjects.

Personality: Skye was raised by a devout Green Jewel couple, who adopted her like their own daughter. She has no idea where she came from, and doesn't care. Because of her age, she is still being indoctrinated in the ways of the Green Jewels. Her faith is there, and strong, but she isn't as quick as the older members to kill 'non-believers'. Happy-go-lucky, cheerful, and friendly all describe this girl. She can get somewhat talkative, but tends to throw in dark comments that catch most people off guard. The incident with her sister left her more than a little jumpy, and more than one innocent caught an axe between their eyes for startling her.

Equipment: She has a fire axe strapped to her back to make up for her lack of physical strength, a knife at her waist, and a scrappy revolver of unknown make that she found on the side of the road.

Vehicle: An almost bare motorcycle that can, but shouldn't, go fast. Skye always talks about how she needs to either salvage another almost broken ride or salvage enough money to get a new one.

Quote: "Yeah, the sunset is beautiful today. Reminds me of what you get when you split some poor guy's head open."

is it just me or are most if not all the girls in the green jewels...

and yeah i have no idea about guns. can anyone suggest something scrappy that you'd find on the side of the road?

Regarding guns, you have some kind of revolver; they're cheaper and more common than automatic weapons, but still pack a punch...

must...resist...pirates... of ...the... carribean... reference!

name: Angus O'Neill
faction: not really ina faction, but maintains close ties to the red eagles
appearance: tall and ghoulish. he has pale skin that is scarred and pealing, his eyes are grey with cataracts (though he can still see, bizzarely) very red mouth and yellow-grey teeth. so irradiated that he glows slightly in the dark. his hair is grey in colour but maintains some of its original brown. he wears a black and white pinstripe suit, stained and tattered, a formal black trilby with a red ribbon and a tattered white feather
personality: utterly nuts. bonkers. 3 fries short of a happy meal. O'Neill is a friendly soul but has a burning hatred for the Green Gems and Blue Eyes (who he refers to as fanatics and yokels respectively) saying that "it was their kind who caused all this!" speaks in a loud voice and has gathered a small tribe dedicated to rebuilding humanity, but doing it right. they call themselves the Descendants but are not powerful enough to make any real difference (let's say about 20 people). if Angus sounds decent from all this, then you're in for a shock because every day, at exactly 10 in the morning, he will walk into the radiation and preach about the day the world ended, before screaming his lungs out and striking the next person he sees. all-in-all, a nice man with severe delusions and an inability to let go.
equipment: a 44 magnum revolver, a laptop (long run out of power, but will plug it in to any socket he finds intact and press the button just to see if it works) a first aid kit, a fencing rapier sharpened regularly and a notepad and pencil, which he uses to jost down any thoughts that come to him.
vehicle: a carrefully maintained hydrogen powerd car with the chasis of a 1930s bentley, used simply for style, cover folded out from the seats and a machine gun turret that can be fitted through the sunroof. black.
quote: "no. nonononono! never kill someone straight out! they need a chance! a second chance! if people gave others one of those, none of this would have happened..."
