I was under the impression that VALVe had enough disposable income to purchase the moon at this point.

A-hahahahaa, no. Valve are rich - even without Left 4 Dead, Portal, Half-Life 1/2/Episodes, etc, etc, they also own the Steam service, so are probably worth MORE than ZeniMax.
That's more or less what I was thinking, though I'm not really sure how big ZeniMax is outside of games... Anyone care to go dig up some real data?

I hope to christ that they don't.

The only thing that could come of ZeniMax having control over half-life is that they ruin the series completely, as Bethesda did with Fallout.

Great, now Valve can cater to the fucking idiots who buy every Release of Madden. Soon we will be looking at Half-Life 18: Episode 37 and it will suck balls.

If Bethesda's TES:V schedule and VALV[sup]E[/sup]'s HL2:Ep3 schedule are in any way allowed to mingle...

My calculations show that no new games will come out of either of those companies for eight and a half eons.
So...3 eons before DNF? ;)

No no no.

I doubt its true (and even if it was Valve would never allow themselves to be bought by someone), but there needs to be competitiveness.

As long as valve doesn't get worse in the end.

Maybe we can get a mix of fallout and half life, a free open world where you play as a rebel trying to overthrow the combine, but i didn't like fallout that much so i probably wouldn't like it, and with all the money I've spent on steam, Valve better be rich.

I thought Valve had enough money to buy a small Space Shuttle. Valve are probably worth more than ZeniMax.

It will never happen. Valve does fine on their own at the moment and Steam is a big part of that.

To be be honost I hate rumors like when valve was going to be bought out by ea or ea being bought by microsoft, and when rumor was spread ea stock went up 5 percent. The only time people merge compainies is commenly due to financial problems, financial problems that valve does not have.

If this were true, I would mourn the death of the last great developer. The entire reason valve can produce such polished games is because they are owned by Gabe Newall, not some shareprice oriented conglomerate of business goons (see: activision). As they only answer to Newall, they can spend as long as nessacary on a game, without having to produce results to keep sharholders happy. And all you salivating over Valve/Betesda collaboration, it's Zenimax, not Bethesda who are suggested as buying Valve, and there will be just as much creative crossover between Halflife and Fallout as there is between Quake and Fallout.

Of course, this is all bullshit and rumor mongering of the highest Order. Valve and Newall have money leaking out of every orifice, and have should have neither the want nor the need to sell out. But hell , you gotta love the internet and the random speculation caused by unsubstanciated claims made by any Joe Soap.
