Valve needs more money? I doubt that. And i doubt they need to be forced by parenting company to make their games. Unless you want them to start making average games. I have no love for what Bethesda did to Fallout series.

And merging companies doesn't mean merging intellectual properties. So no mutant HL+Oblivion etc. games for you.

PS. Stop confusing roles of ZeniMax and Bethesda. Bethesda is just a developer. ZeniMax is the owner.

PSS. Nintendo is longer in gaming business than both Sony and MS. Which makes it the oldest of three.

As long as Bethesda doesn't go putting its fingers in Valves work them i'm happy, sure they are both awesome but they have different styles.

Fuck that. Valve should remain independent. They have no shortage of money with Steam and their release of high quality titles.

Why people would think this would be a good thing is beyond me.

The Valve fan in me is hoping that this is just a rumor. Even if this is a good buisiness decision, the slightest possibility that Valve might lose its policies of respect towards gamers would disappoint me greatly. But I will admit I haven't really paid attention towards Bethesda, outside of renting Fallout 3, so maybe this is a good idea. I'm unsure.

The original article says "industry scuttlebut says that Zenimax is making eyes at Valve from across the bar".

You know what that means. Zenimax is going to get Valve liquored up and patronize/denigrate it alternatingly throughout the evening until it comes back to Zeni's Hunt Valley condo and participates in a night of hot, sweaty, cross-developer IP exchange. The next morning, Valve will get a morning-after pill at the local GameStop and production on "The Freeman Scrolls: Portalwind" will end before it ever really began.

Normally, I wouldn't be bothered by the implications, but given Bethesda's recent litigation against Interplay (which is best summarized as biting the hand that feeds them, then suing the owner of the hand for emotional trauma), I've lost all respect for them and really wish the acquisition doesn't go through.

im gonna bet 10 bucks that Zenimax will make Valve turn down the already extremely low amount of violence in their games (im looking at you L4D2). They will be more of a restriction than an aid.

No. Please God no. Valve is it's own huge company. I could understand a partnership between the two, but nothing else, please.

Oh please god no.

I love Valve, and I quite like most companies ZeniMax owns. However I just do not think it would go down well. Call it a gut feeling.

Bethesda's lack of polish versus Valve's strive for polish=2nd Most Unnecessary Battle of the Century.

i think this is another way to prove that Bethesda = win..even though it isn't Bethesda directly, this i think would definitly be an interesting move, but still a good one, lets think for a second..Oblivion/Fallout type graphics..in Half-Life/Left 4 Dead style play...am i the only person who would love to play that game?

Lawls at all the Valve fanboys/girls. You'd think somebody stole their houses or something. Seriously people grow the fuck up.
