Oh I'll never hear the end of this. I'm glad Steam don't charge for memberships otherwise I wouldn't be able to game at all.
They don't need to. They get us with those crazy ass deals they put up every now and then.

Come on Activision, do it. See what happens. I think it would go down as one of the biggest disasters in gaming history. And god it would be funny.

That can't even be legal can it?
Their terms and conditions state that access to the multiplayer features may change at any time, and that means that, as long as they give notice, they can add in subscription fees if they wanted and it's 100% legal.

I dont think anyone here is actually suprised.

The only way Activision coul dbe move evil is if they where called GenTek, nothing good ever comes outs of a company called Gen Tek.

It's the beginning of the end everyone. COD is the FPS equivelent of WoW, so maybe that's were Bobby thought this would be a good idea. the problem is Bobby, FPS gamers dont like the idea of paying for something that USED to be free. your making a mistake, and I sincerly believe that this will end badly for you.

Good thing I'm no longer buying any Call of Duty games any more.

I may rent them for the Campaign and Achievements, but other than that I'm staying the hell away from them.

Those crazy ass deals are the greatest thing since sliced bread in my opinion. Which reminds me I have to get Alien Swarm.

I personally am not a fan of Activision and have and have stopped buying their games unless they have really good reviews. However, I say bring it! If this bombs it will be a good day for everyone who hates Activision, if somehow people actually bite into this I couldn't care less as I don't follow FPS except for TF2 and we all know Valve would never do something this greedy and stupid.

And thus the franchise is killed by Kotick and his crew of Milk maids and men. Such a shame.

Calumon: Kotick has his own bosses, right?

If people are willing to pay 15 dollars for 2 rehashed maps and 3 new ones, then they'll sure as hell pay a subscription fee. I, personally, will take my business somewhere else, such as Valve or even *Shudder* EA.

Hmm... Now, I play MW2, its a game that took a while to grow on me but, eventually, it did (I would like to note though that I play it socially with friends).

I like the game now, but not enough to pay any ammount of money per month for it. The fact that its campaign was insultingly short for $60 means the multiplayer is the only justification for purchase (granted, mine was a gift, but still).

Now, lets think. Modern Warfare 2 is fun, mostly because of the people I played with. I find other games to be far more entertaining. Halo 3 was much more fun for me, in all aspects. Modern Warfare was a lot more fun. The new MoH looks a lot more fun. Team Fortress 2... Nuff said.

I dont need MW2. Nor does anyone else. The demographic for CoD is High School and College aged Males. THEY ARE NOT KNOWN TO HAVE MUCH DISPOSIBLE INCOME.

Do they hire people who do demographics? This is a bad idea.

If they expect it to succeed, then they are very delusional. I doubt there's a large enough audience for this to succeed, since very few people would want to pay to play the game on top of a Gold subscription.

Then again the $15 map packs that are complete rip-offs seem to have sold rather well, so who knows.

Oh how you speak the truth! There are atleast 4 games on my steam list that I would have never purchased otherwise, those crafty bastards!

You can count me in with everyone else on this thread when I say, yeah they won't be seeing another penny from me ever again if they decide to go ahead with this. I'm surprised that, despite a few threads here and there on the Escapist about it, that I'm not hearing a severe uproar from the CoD community considering I was a part of it for the longest time.

The uproar from the CoD community sounds like a silent hush or a small voiced nagging mother in another room in comparison to the uproar that Blizzard caused with the Real ID ordeal.
