I feel somewhat sorry for the MW2 fanboys out there, but I guess this just makes people hate even more Activision and Bobby Kotick.
with COD black ops pre-orders where they are, Activision could require players to pay 60$ a month for all modes and they would still eat it the fuck up

Wow. I mean, wow. Are they even trying any more? Honestly, this will kill the franchise; even more than 2 did! Does this mean that Xbox 360 players will have to pay for Gold, and then another subscription service?
Bullshit! (Says a PS3 owner.)
Seconded from a PS3/Xbox 360 owner.

Hey maybe if this goes on long enough fanboys everywhere can unite against a common threat.

Something to unite fanboys? That would be a godsend! Seriously though, they can't possibly expect people to pay it up. On a slight sidenote, I'm very glad that Valve are lending their services to the PS3. That is the kind of free service people should be seeing more of these days!

Step one is nearly complete i see. After this all Bobby needs to do is reveal 5 new achievements for multiplayer that all require insane amounts of playtime, kills and other related tasks in order to force the die-hards to keep paying, sorry, playing.

Not really a fan of multiplayer. I like to play it once in a great while, but I can live without it. However, if they decide to charge for Co-op features two, I will be very angry. I like playing with my friends, not against them.

Must admit, a small part of me wants to see this happen. I'm curious to see if, like everyone believes, it will kill Mondern Warfare 2, or if enough people will be dumb enough to pay-to-play that the game keeps going.

you know no one will stop playing even if you say you quit, activision knows it, kotick knows it, i know it, which is why they are milking every single penny out of the cash cow, all the way to the bank, and anyone who stands in their way gets sued or fired. other companies will follow suit and in a couple of years every other game will have a subscription on it.

I play MW2 regularly with my friends, but if this is becomes anymore than a rumor, im pretty sure we'll find another game. Medal of Honor is beginning to look interesting, but lets wait and see first.

Is Bobby Kotick some kind of plant? Because regardless of his, uh, CEO-ing abilities, he's an anti-PR magnet.

Doubtful, every console game maybe. PC Gamers will simply hack it to allow for dedicated servers on their own. Which I'd fully support.
ditto, i hacked mw2 console so i could play dedicated servers on pc, i feel sorry for the 360 owners who pay 300 dollars for a console, 60 for a game and 50 for xbox live, but still have to pay whatever kotick wants to charge them.

Ditto. How long will it be until Activision realizes that gouging the customers is not a good business plan?
I think they believe if apple can do it so can they.

i kid but seriously you have to spend so much on those apps and their free on other smart phones.

OT: well is anyone really surprised? i mean actually surprised the answer is no as this is the sheer dickery we have come to expect from activision as of late.

Yes I did look at the responses. What we got 20 maybe 30 people saying OMG never? Now lets put that into perspective. That is 20 or 30 people out of how many millions? I get it you are on a forum so you are the voice of those millions. Until the same people who are saying OMG never start paying. And let me ask you this. How many months will it take before people start realizing it is a scam? Even if it eventually fails they will still make a ton of money off of it.

And a 250gb HDD isn't enough space? Are you kidding me?
What, are you the only person in the world, who doesn't know that all consoles don't have HDD's standard? Really? That's a first. I guess ignorance is far more rampant than I thought. Now, since you fail to grasp even the simplest of issues, I'll explain why this is a problem. Developers cannot create a multi-platform game, that requires HDD usage, when a portion of that base (IE. the 360), doesn't have an HDD. Given MS and Activision are sleeping together, MS wouldn't allow it anyway.

Those 10's of millions of people you're talking about, who don't frequent forums, also have these things called Parents, who pay for a large majority of their gaming habits. Parents, won't be so quick to buy into a subscription for something that was previously free. As I said, this is a problem for consoles, IE, kids.
So only "kids" own consoles now? And only adults play subscript based games? And since when has it been free? How are all those so called kids supporting XBL gold? They get the same thing for free on the PC and PS3.

And you do realize that it doesn't need to be an MMORPG right? That it wouldn't need NPCs interacting with each other or anything like that. All they would need to do is throw out a couple maps and a reskinned gun or 2 a month to justify the price. You know all that fun stuff we are getting for free (if free means costing money). Although you did prove my point. There is millions who don't frequent forums. That means there is millions of potential suckers out there who will think hey if it costs it must be better. But I am sure MS will remember that they sold arcades and cater to all those who don't have HDDs. Just like they do now. That is why EA's 10 dollar plan never made it to the 360.

I'm confused by this statement. I thought project ten dollar did make it to the the 360 with Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, and Battlefield 2?
