Rumor: Frank West and Zero in Tatsunoko vs Capcom?

A clever Shoryuken.com forum user has done some snooping around Capcom's site for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and uncovered evidence suggesting that Mega Man's Zero and Dead Rising's Frank West will be playable.

Shoryuken poster Tatsunoko vs. Capcom [http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=7456555&postcount=1063] and uncovered some rather intriguing evidence hidden within the site's source code. While most of the character buttons featured already-unveiled members of the cast, these five were unexplained:

"'images/oncharactor_btn_zero.jpg'
'images/oncharactor_btn_frank.jpg'
'images/oncharactor_btn_yatter02.jpg'
'images/oncharactor_btn_joe.jpg'
'images/oncharactor_btn_tekkabla.jpg'"

On the Tatsunoko side of things, that's likely Yatterman's Yatterman #2, Gatchaman's Joe Asakura, and Tekkaman Blade's ... uh, Tekkaman Blade. As for Capcom, these seem to point to Mega Man X's antihero reploid Zero - not all that surprising, given his popularity - but perhaps more interestingly, Dead Rising's photographer-cum-zombie-slayer extraordinare Frank West. He has covered wars, you know.

Frank West and Zero are certainly cool additions to the game, but alas, we remain Phoenix-Wright-less [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93934-Why-Phoenix-Wright-Was-Cut-From-Tatsunoko-vs-Capcom], which makes us cry inside.

That Joe could also be Viewtiful Joe.
Hey, made by Capcom, made to fight.
EDIT: Hey, the screen didn't load, and I'm stupid. No more quotings.

But as Viewtiful Joe is in that image of the cover, and has his own character page on the website, it's more likely to be a completely different Joe than of the Viewtiful variety.

Do we know if this'll be a retail release of downloadable? I'd give serious thought to buying it just to play as Frank if it's around $10, but I don't think I'll buy if it's a full $60.

Mega Man's Zero
I wonder which version. Are we going old school [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ec/Zero_mmx.jpg] or the more modern iteration? [http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/8963/verharvestef1.jpg]

All I want is for this game to either have Wi-Fi, or the Pizza Cats for the lulz. Both would be nice, though.

I'm very curious if this is true as to what Frank's move set would be. BTW I've covered wars.

Viewtiful Joe is probably in it, as he is on the cover. I hope Frank West is in it. He's pretty damn cool.

Yikes, a lot of people don't really know much about this.

In response to a few questions:

-Yes, there is online play, unlike the Japanese release.
-Viewtiful Joe was already in the game since the Japanese release. The article is talking about source codes for characters not already on the site. So one new character in this release could be a different Joe.
-The game is a retail release. I thought the cover art made it obvious. The game is to be treated like any other "Capcom vs ..." game.
-Yes, that is a Lost Planet mech. It, and Gold Lightan (sp?) are two huge characters that have double the health but cannot have a partner.

At any rate, interesting find. Unfortunately, I really wanted Amateratsu 'Ammy' Okami to be a playable fighter. Yes, I know Yami, the final boss in Okami, is in this game as a final boss too. I still want Ammy in there though dangit!

Well, the screen didn't load for me, and I have no info on this game.
Jeez, I need to pay attention to stuff.

Enough places have pretty much quoted Capcom saying there will be Wi-Fi, so I think you can hold your breath. For example sources like Kotak- *bursts out laughing*

Oh dear...but seriously though enough places have said it, and online matchmaking as well.

Well, this will officially rock.

If they get the fighting system down.
Think Marvel vs Capcom with a bit more depth because it has a combo cancelling system.

Uh, who's that one just below the Megatron-wannabe's left eye? Because to me it looks like Vergil's Devil-Trigger form.

:( I forgot that the "modern iteration" was possibly the zero they could use.really hoping it's the retro one though if it's even mega man's zero.

If it were me, I'd have both versions choosable as different costumes of the same character, but whether Capcom do that or not is still up in the air. Arguably the 'Megaman Zero' version of Zero (that being the more modern iteration) has had more publicity over the last few years spanning four GBA games plus the two 'spinoffs' in the Megaman ZX series which would lend credence to them choosing the form which would have more appeal and recognition among the younger fans - but the retro style cannot be denied as a classic and what people remember most when they think of the character Zero.

/Longwinded way of saying "Could go either way"
//Personally hoping for both.
