Rumor: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Remaster Infiltrating PS3

Snake's latest portable adventure could receive the HD upgrade treatment for release on the PlayStation 3.

PlayStation 3-owning Metal Gear fans lamenting the existence of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker [http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Solid-Peace-Walker-Sony-PSP/dp/B002BS47TE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306257120&sr=8-1] due to lack of a PSP might get a reprieve from their heartbreak in the near future. French website JVN says it can "confirm" that a PlayStation 3 remaster of Peace Walker will be announced at E3 2011.

Sony recently revealed its PSP Remaster [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110275-Sony-Remastering-PSP-Titles-for-PS3-Monster-Hunter-Up-First] initiative that'll bring PSP games to the PS3 with HD graphics, save data transfer, and other upgrades, starting with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. If JVN's report is true, Peace Walker would be the second game to be announced in the PSP Remaster lineup. Sony said PSP Remaster titles could be sold on Blu-ray discs or as downloads through the PlayStation Store, so Peace Walker could go either way.

Peace Walker is Konami's second PSP Metal Gear title with an official plot, excluding the card-based strategy Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops [http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Acid-Sony-PSP/dp/B0007UDYU6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306258419&sr=8-1] as he builds his group of nationless mercenaries.

It'd be a great title for a PSP Remaster due to the popularity of the series, so while JVN's confirmation should be considered rumor for now, it makes a lot of sense. If Peace Walker isn't announced at E3 2011, it'll probably just happen later down the line.

I completed the main story on the psp and only have the extra bosses to fight but I throughly enjoyed the game so if they add more to a ps3 version I'll definitely get it.

I must say this is one of the releases I might consider getting.

I have stopped buying PSP titles because I do not like how the PSP controls feel in my hand, and have often wanted a lot of PSP titles that I just didn't get because of the PSP.

so now if they could only remake Valkyria chronicles 2 I'll be happy.

PS: Seems to me Sony understands that the PSP isn't a success in the West compared to Japan.

Oh, yes! All the main problems I had with PW were due to it's controls. If it's on PS3, nearly all my problems will be fixed

I've always been a fan of the series but don't own a psp so I never got a chance to play it, I did borrow portable ops from a friend and found it quite enjoyable even if the controls were hard to get used to hopefully those get remastered as well.

I share 100% of this assessment and prediction. Such violent agreement can only lead to trouble.
