Wait, am I missing something here? The only 3D castlevania game was for nintendo 64 and was utterly fucking terrible. This isn't so much returning to it's roots as more splashing around in the same wading pool the franchise has been splashing around in since it began.

But... yea, more castlevania is good castlevania.
Why yes, I believe you ARE missing something, there were TWO 3D Castlevania games for the N64, and then two more for the PS2, and then a new one is coming (Lords of Shadow), which I believe will be for the PS3 and 360

As a long-time Castlevania fan, this excites me a lot.

I'll be keeping an eye and a ear open for this.

I feel mixed about this...2D Castlevania? Hell yeah! Possibility to play with others, sounds like a boat load of awesome! Playing with others from the Xbox Live community as I don't have 5 close friends with Xboxs that are into 2D let alone Castlevania so I will have to reach out over the internet.... .... ....maybe want?

I think I would prefer splitscreen although I do really like the idea of a multiplayer Castlevania. They picked some of the more interesting characters like Soma Cruz and Alucard too.

Castlevania awesomeness? Sign me up!
BTW, does that "screenshot" look 'shopped to anyone or is it just me? Those sprites seem way WAY too small, and I think that's Soma Cruz standing in the bottom left corner...
