Rumor: Sony Has Bought Crash Bandicoot From Activision

I don't get the appeal of this, as I recall crash bandicoot was a weird tunnel runner game, how does this really make any difference?

Simple, some people played this as a kid on the PS1 and now they're blinded by rose tinted nostalgia goggles.

It's stuff like this that makes me really sad. Most of complain about franchises being miked to death and yet when it comes to a game that they're familiar with, a game which defines their childhood all that cynicism goes to shit.

It makes most people hypocrites in terms how the gaming industry tries to steal our money and produce unoriginal IPs. It just goes to show how much a brand can impact the successfulness in the gaming industry and how the gaming industry exploits these brands in-order to gain a profit. Because of this, if this business deal is true then Sony must've spent millions to get it, the same deal which could buy a small oil well off a land owner.


Crash was fun 'n' all but it hardly was the game of all games. it was a better platformer alternative in those days.

The main thing I remember about the bandicoot games was the stupid ad campaign they ran for it with some idiot standing outside nintendo hq and yelling at them.

Please. I will dismiss any thoughts of the PS4 not being in consideration when I have some disposable income. Please.

Yes this is blind nostalgia, but I love naughty dog, and I don't like the Uncharted series. You see my dilemma here.

I've been wondering what ever happened to Crash. Please let this be true. Also, I'd like to see more new titles of old IPs. Spyro, Breath of Fire, Suikoden, Zone of the Enders, and several others. Oh, I know they are but dreams. But dammit, I can dream.

Honestly, I don't think Capcom cares about the Blue Bomber anymore. They didn't even do anything for his 25th anniversary. Other than release a big expensive book. If that was a marriage, I think he would have filed for divorce.

Seriously, not even a release of all Megaman games on a single disc?

actually, they rereleased all of the NES megaman titles on the 3DS, and two of the SNES ones on the Wii U

I probably would have picked Nintendo as my first choice, but Sony would be my second. This will be great if it's true.

Nintendo should also make more Banjo-Kazooie & Donkey Kong. Microsoft should do something with Conkers & Viva Pinata, like sell them to a company that will actually use them.

I actually like Banjo Kazooie with Rare though, because I liked Nuts and Bolts more than the platformers =P

Rare made the platformers too, but I do agree that I loved Nuts and Bolt, great game that really didn't get the appreciation it deserved. However the way it is Rare seems to be mostly about making Kinect games so that's one reason to see them change hands.

But seriously, this is some damn good news should it be true. The only crash game that I've actually kind of liked is Nitro Cart. Some of the maps in that game had some pretty cool designs.

I don't dislike Spyro, but I do agree about Sonic, which is a shame. A good quote, and one that hopefully should be remembered.

Now, as for me, I really, REALLY hope this rumor is true, since it would mean that Crash can actually have a good game again after so long of a hiatus from one, and yeah, I wish Rayman could have better games too, and Spyro's fine with his kiddie Skylander adventures (Since that makes money!) but it's just a glimmer of hope. It's all we have until someone makes an actual good original IP that ISN'T a First/Third Person Shooter. Anything that's an awesome Fighter, Platformer, RPG, Puzzle, or Survival Horror Game that could come out next year would be just lovely for myself, don't know about anyone else.

Seriously people you miss Crash? Don't get me wrong Crash 3 was one of the best platformers for the ps 1 but ever since then we got far more superior platformers including Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter. I'd give anything for one good Jak game on current gen

I honestly feel bad for everyone who cannot get behind this and hasn't played the PS1 titles. Rayman benefited from the jump to this gen and I cannot wait to see how this turns out. If a PS4 title with Crash is released, I will seriously consider buying a PS4.

I would really appreciate what Andy Gavin (Naughty Dog co-creator) suggested earlier this year, when he said that the series needed a reboot. Going back to the first three games and restoring Crash to his roots. Not sure I agree on the open-environment aspect he suggests (never was a fan of Twinsanity), but it could work.

The first time I played Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale I remember asking, "Where's Sony's mascot?" This was before I found out that Toro is actually the mascot, but I really hope that Crash is back! That'll definitely entail an update so I can beat the snot out of the cocaine bear with my favorite bandicoot.
