So, what are your opinions on Russell Howard's Good News (especially for those living in the UK)? Personally, you can say what you like about Howard and his comedy (as well as his tendency for reusing certain voices and novelty clips), but without this show, I don't think my Thursdays would be as good. He brings light on some of the more unique and outlandish stories that the mainstream news fails to cover in favour of yet another depressing story about terrorist bombs in war-torn Third World countries and big corporations covering up child molesters, giving his own humorous take, and towards the end, gives us a relatively uplifting story showing that not everyone in the world are sociopathic jerks.

I love that man!

Really I feel the same way about him, without him my thursdays just would not be the same. I love his show so much. No matter how down I feel, Good News never fails to make me smile or put me in a good mood again. I love how he ends the show with those lovely news stories.

I used to find Howard annoying but he's grown on me and now I enjoy the show, I'll usually flick it on unless there's something really good on else-where.

When he isn't doing voices he is ok, I laugh at the stupid stories more than his commentary on them.

His little skits are for the "little Britain" fans, I find them childish.

The heart warming story at the end is the bit I always turn off, I watch it for comedy not to hear about some poor little bugger. It seems to me like, "we are going to cheer you up, then make you feel sorry for someone" ... I would just rather have the cheering you up bit.

Love the show, that and Mock the Week really made Thursday my favourite day of the week.
Some the skits can be quite bad though but thankfully they don't make up the bulk of the show so it's all right for me. I do tend to call a piss-break at the "Mystery Guest" segment and just turn off completely at the "uplifting" stories bit at the end. Regardless, it's my favorite show that's currently airing on TV.

It's so very meh. I'll stick it on if there's nothing else on but it's mainly for the stories, not him. He's just not that funny. Oh, and the people that he occasionally brings on to do their stand up are woefully unfunny, for the most part.

Saw the first or second episode and it seemed alright. Then some really bad comedian with pink hair and a leopard skin coat on came along and was fucking awful.
Haven't watched a full episode since.

He's not my favorite comedian, but I still really like him. I always watch his show, though I prefer HIGNFY and QI. Though the stand up comedians at the end are painfully unfunny. I physicaly cringe watching them.

They're not always meant to pull at your heartstrings. The one last night was about an Art student who learned how to paint with her mouth because, due to hypermobility syndrome, she had difficulty holding the paintbrush in her hand and may've had to drop her A-Level Art course otherwise. Some of them are just generally nice to hear about, as opposed to whatever bullshit a politician has recently come out with.

You literally just said "They're not always meant to pull at your heartstrings." *proceeds to tell heart string pulling story*.

I don't actually watch the news, it's always just "today death, death and more death ... oh and people are taking your money" so these "heart warming feel good stories" are wasted on me, especially since there are millions of these stories out there.

They all boil down to a person having some sort of difficulty and them living with it or over coming it, "this deaf person wrote an opera". I mean, good for him and all but so did Beethoven.

Well...that's fair enough. Admittedly, I don't like most of them myself, but sometimes, there are a select few (like my aforementioned example) that are relatively good to hear about.
