good intentions on the side of the priest, but this just aint gona work. Who would want to play a game like that? The fact that its an MMOG means that its already destined to fail, mainly due to a tiny weeny thing called WoW...

I wonder if this mmog would have a monthly fee. Kind of like dishing out money in a church, right?

I would play that. For many hours. I would camp so many Judas(lvl 50) spawns it wouldn't even be funny.

you know ,if they focused more in the time of ancient life where being faithful to your religion was hard might be good, but will ultimatly fail cos it is directly based off of an existing religion, and alot of people are xenphobics when it comes to religion just cos of some fanatics

An MMO sounds like it would, most likely, be destined for failure. Sounds like it would be biting off more then they can chew, all for the sake of desperately wanting to tap into the power of WoWs popularity. But as a game in general, a tight single player experience, there is a possibility here for a wildly interesting game, filled with groundbreaking, yet incredibly difficult to execute, possible mechanics and dynamics, all of which I would not trust in the hands of a member of an organized religion for a second. I would play a well designed game that tried to present a Christian based philosophy in a heartbeat, but I know that if it came from a church, it would be a stale, already done game with the words, "Praise Jesus" tacked on somewhere.

A lot of you are saying that it's going to fail, but I have an idea. Why not make it a single player game with a MMO component. You gain exp by helping people. Basically adventure game style play of using tools to get around. Rather than fighting demons you run like hell and heal yourself and other people fleeing.

LEVEL UP: Deny 'Darwinism' while reaping all the benefits from medical services.

LEVEL UP: Resist those homosexual urges just a bit longer.

LEVEL UP: You found a wife according to Deuteronomy 22: 28-29

Probably be exactly the same as other mmos except the sword graphic is replaced by a book and you are wearing down their "heathenism".

Religious games are already quite widespread. I especially enjoy the historic ones, such as leading crusades against the nonbelivevers in Medieval: Total War... ;)

Will there be a part in the game where you get to thump the Bible in front of people?

Cheap shots aside, it sounds so weird it's actually good. It could work.

No warlock class?

I wonder if this mmog will be free propaganda or paid propaganda. Maybe they'll finance it with microtransactions called "donations".

That's the problem with "religious" games. They see the world ONE way and the only way to succeed in their game is to follow their ONE way. It's inherently flawed.

But this one says you can walk a secular path, so maybe they might have a good approach to this one.
Well, all games do that, it just appeals to the core demographic.

Some how I feel prompted to post for the first time,

Now its true that many games find their set up (rather tiresomely in some cases) in killing people or animals. Shooters would be a major part of that but most games have killing in some form or another really but not all.

Though its not the best example look and Silent Hill 2, its a game where killing this isn't necessary for large parts and even though there are boss battles where you must the game wouldn't suffer too much from their loss. Gregory Horror Show Soul Collector is another example of a good game that doesn't have any fighting to my knowledge.

Now think about some great puzzle adventure games that are out and about. If done well then this might not appeal to people that love FPS but to those that want a complex storyline and to learn something it might be very good. Say you need to read sections of text from the bible as clues or help people out making choices of good and evil (and in-between hopefully). An adventure game with a religious tone could if not shoving it down your throat do quite well.

All it requires is that you be open minded about it. I'm not a Christian but it is a nice idea depending on how they do it.

It's not likely to work well, but for all that, I do have a soft spot for the Russian Orthodox Church, and am sure that his intentions are perfectly well-meaning, so I wish him luck.

As long as they introduce some original ideas for dealing with situations rather than just killing them, I imagine that it can become something of a good idea, if not a terribly profitable one.

This game is the kind of game that most people will probably buy out of curiosity

But its also a massive oppertunity for trolls to try and just swear at the children playing it

All the same I like the aspect of playing as a bad character because it could start raids and wars between the two, but if the bad side won what kind of message would it send etc so it may be disallowed

I dunno but i'm interested
