Has anyone seen emo rangers? It was actually a well done parody. They were called the "Mighty Moshin' Emo Rangers."

Sweet.

I've seen at least one episode from every spinoff, except maybe the newer ones.

Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, In Space, and the original Mighty Morphin' are definitely the best.

Strangely enough, I've seen the series as a kid and I hate them.

Power Rangers contain a most elements that make various kids shows shit.

Meh, I was into Animaniacs and other shows that didn't make my brain leak from my ears. I only ever watched it for it's pure camp value and to see what people can do with a straight face.
What he said, basically.

The original Power Ranger and the Turbo Power Rangers were pretty awesome indeed......then it took a real steep dive into Stupidity from there.

Glad to see that they are reviving the series.

Zyuranger looks gay though....seriously.

My god, I watched these shows every Sunday morn. After the ninjas one I knida stopped, there wasn't any life to it. But now with news of the revival, hope shines within me and tears are in my eyes.!

Best theme song (and series) after the original is still "Space." That last story arc was simply epic.

Dear lord, how I have the theme song running through my head... that, and all of those delightfully cheesy spinoff series (anyone else remember "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue," "Power Rangers Time Force," and "Power Rangers Wild Force?"

What, like they haven't already fucking milked this show to the last measly drop?

They'd better swap the colours around this time, given that Ernie and Bert aren't allowed to sleep in the same bed anymore. I look forward to seeing a guy play the metrosexual pink ranger.

I shouldn't be happy about this (I'm 32 for pete's sake) but can't help it. These shows were always bad, but always fun. Since they're still making Super Sentai shows in Japan, they have plenty of footage to steal from, heck they never stopped).

Back when Power Rangers existed, shoddy special effects, racism and poor plot were put aside because it was popular with the kids. Looking back on the series we can see that Power Rangers wasn't really the greatest. Does anyone really think that a revival is worth it? Or that it will be any good at all? With the way that recent monster movies and live-action giant robots are going, they lost their soul with the dawn of the CG age. There's something hollow and soulless about a CGI robot. But, shitty animatronic puppets and big rubber suits seemed to still have that soul, but having those appear in modern cinema is laughable. Perhaps if they reworked Power Rangers so that it had a good story, a somewhat different concept and utilized a combination of animatronic suits and CGI (similar to what Where the Wild Things Are did), then we might have some gold on our hands. On the other hand, if you do all that you may as well call it something totally different and be done with it. I suppose the name would sell, though. After all, my generation seems to be full of money ready to be spewed at nostalgia.

Here on Mexico, PR were HUGE, I simply loved the series up to Wild Force, after that, and the whole ninja thing was simply stupid (I simply couldn't stand seeing a bad cgi gerbil sensei).

I remember that after school, as soon as I got home, I threw my backpack and rushed to the TV to see my beloved Mighty Morphin' dudes and gals. That and I simply loved how silly Bulk & Skull were.

Regarding a gritty reboot, that's pretty much impossible because they adapt super sentai seasons, and "gritty" is precisely what they increasingly aren't. Here's the latest one and thus most likely to be converted into the next PR season:

As for milking the show, Super Sentai is in its 34th year and still going strong, so obviously the PR guys aren't gonna stop.

Agreed, which is the one thing all the nostalgia sellers haven't picked up on yet.

If you're going to sell us our memories, use the original packaging.

Visible Wires, BRIAN BLESSED STYLE ACTING and thinly veiled allusions and innuendo was what brought us to the happy place originally. Just do that again.

Look at Into the Night Garden or Teletubbies. Targetted well enough so it impales it's audience while dragging in those that are coming across it for the first time.

Most of the MMPR fans here range between 30-40...which means they were 15-25 when it first came on...possibly one of the toughest fanbases to break.

Look at the success of the Street Fighter short clip, Batman vs Alien vs Predator, Lego Star Wars... the market is there to be tapped, but no-one's going about it the right way, with the original mylar coating.

It's an error assuming they'll choose any segment other than kids as their primary target. PR has always made its profits on toys and merchandising, and it'll continue to be so.

$250 for a Team Fortress 2 Heavy Weapons Guy?

The Single Thirty-Something is a lot easier to get to than the Credit-Crunched Family at the moment. Or the Tweenlighters. Even the Granny Brigade has been hit with the Miserybacks and Crimepr0n.

I didn't much care for most Power Rangers seasons beyond the Zordon story arc, but the previous season, Power Rangers RPM, was fucking great. And yes, I absolutely mean that.
After the shitfest that was Power Rangers: Jungle Fury, RPM was a really good send-off. With RPM, they actually did things right.

Now I'm hoping that Saban does something just as good. And I hope they don't fruit it up too much for the intended generation.
