Random gameplay video from source I've never heard of within two months of release != marquee trailer.
That's the gameplay trailer shown at E3.
And the amount of hype that generated from me is... approximately 0. And I've enjoyed Skyrim so far. And I enjoyed Oblivion (kind of) before that. And Morrowind (completely) before that.
stop feeding the troll man.(wish id got here earlier) he complains about everything in mass effect 2 so i dont think you can convence him hes wrong. just ignore and move on:)

Well looks like they have transitioned from shooter with pick and mix abilities to just straight out copying Gears Of War.

Nice work Bioware.

...Que?

It's still a shooter with pick and mix abilities.

In fact, it has even more pick and mix abilities than previous games in terms of class powers and abilities. And even more pick and mix abilities than the first mass effect for your guns and armor.

Its as pick and mixy as anyone could want. Just not in this one trailer.
The first Mass Effect was really pick and mixy, I could go through the whole game, hardly take cover and just use my powers and abilities. You could pick a class like Infiltrator and then become a Commando later on in the game.

Mass Effect 2 was less pick and mix like, you pick a class and this is how you are going to have to play for the rest of the game. You leave cover and you are not a Vanguard or a Sentinel you will get mowed down, you were shoehorned into a certain play style and it was boring. Also not being able to use weapons in a class that wasnt specialised was infuriating. Also the story went nowhere.

While I havent played Mass Effect 3 yet I am not getting my hopes up, from what I have seen it looks like it has gone full shooter. All I have seen on rails segments and Gears Of War esque stuff like in the trailer, I read the story leak aswell and I am not impressed.

I bet that Reaper must be embaressed.

"Muahahaha! I am (insert Reaper name here)! you teeny creatures are insignificant and inferior, nothing can stop us! *Thresher Maw grabs it* Oh no! help! I'm being attacked by a non-sentient worm! the irony! it hurts!"

My team consists of Garrus and that Thresher Maw. BRING IT ON UNIVERSE!!!
Thresher Maw for squadmate.

I can see it now, in March: "So the trailer they put out last December showed that there's a Thresher Maw here, Can't wait to see it's Reaper rumble."

Later: "Hey, where's the thresher maw?!? The whole crew keeps dying on this part.... wait a minute... what planet are we on?"

*Checks Mass Effect 1 Save Game. Realizes he killed that Thresher Maw two games ago, thereby dooming the entire galaxy.*

Damn you, Biowaaaaaaaare!!!

Hmmm, I have two Mass Effect 2 completed saves; one from a character where I killed the Thresher Maw on Tuchanka and another where I didn't. Time will tell if that decision is going to come back and haunt me.

If I get to ride a thresher maw, bioware will have to hire security to keep me from throwing money at them.

hopefully it wont suck like mass effect two. "hey," says game developer, "lets take out all the great weapon mods that were in the first and make the second game about resource farming on worthless planets." great idea guys why dont we just ruin sci fi by making the game a rehash of GOW. ill admit the game trailer gave me "the willies" as they say but come on it looks like they just made it even more selective while probably beafing up the character creation engine. as if thats all that matters in a game. admittedly that COULD be a cool game concept. Make trilogies start openly selective and work progressively toward an ends. But i doubt they can pull it off.

Why all this mucking about with Thresher Maws? I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. . .

Mass Effecrt, huh? Silly Bioware, coming up with entire new franchises that sound so similar to existing ones. When is Mass Effect 3 coming out?
On topic, boy does this game sure look crappy. It looks like we just keep setting the bar lower.

That was EPIC. For the first time I'm excited for this game!

EA still isn't getting a dime from me though. I'll buy it used.
I think EPIC is the problem, it looks more like gears of war to me, rather than mass effect.

Putting the smug hyperbole aside for the sake of my sanity, as someone on this thread has already said, they can't show much in the way of story details in the trailers without spoiling it. It will still all be there, because that's what Mass Effect is about above all, and they have in the past shown us how they put a bit more depth back into the stats and upgrades, as well as alluding to some pretty heavy stuff with the story (Mordin and the Genophage cure, Quarian vs Geth conflict etc.) so we already know it's not going to just be all about "run and gun action". It's just that they've said all they want to say right now on the story, and that the combat parts inevitably make for the best trailers. Think about it, Skyrim is a way heavier RPG than Mass Effect was ever meant to be, but did they make trailers all about catching/cooking your food and training up your blacksmithing skills? Did they reveal any crucial story events? No, they made trailers about you killing Dragons.
And trailers about the lore. And at least one trailer that showcased nothing but the environments.

Please recall the Mass Effect 1 and 2 trailers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCpK2XnIaeI&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5LB9n--fB8&feature=fvst (for a start)

What do we have? Movie-style trailers. Characters. Locations. Almost spoilers. A scene of a space-car. They were beautiful things. The kind of trailer you'd expect from a Star Wars or a Star Trek.

For Mass Effect 3, we have "The reapers are here" panning shots (with new soldier-boy front and centre) and "Mega Worm VS. Giant Squid." Plus a few gameplay snippets and screenshots of blokes shooting metal blokes. Action moments all. More than anything, they remind me of a Michael Bay movie.

No offense, Bioware, but I don't care how your game plays. That's a known quantity. I don't care how many guns you have, or how many co-op missions you put in. I want to be hyped up about the story for more reasons than just "finish the fight." And right now, you're not doing that - which worries me more than a bit.
pretty much this, the more I see and read of Mass Effect 3 the more I think they forgot they were making a story driven RPG.

I know a number of people have commented and said that the Sandworm is a Thresher Maw but is it really? IT doesn't look like the Thresher Maw from ME2 and definitely looks nothing like the one from ME1.

Cute... a bunch of whiners complaining about how Mass Effect is an action shooter like GOW because it's brown (it's Tuchanka), has big epic set-pieces (what's wrong with that?), and action (IT'S A FREAKING GALACTIC WAR! WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? You want to see Shepard talking to the Reaper as it blows him up?)

So, if you're a Survivor origin, after the fight you get a conversation with the Thresher Maw, with the three following options:

-Thanks for the help, there.
-I didn't need your help.
-YOU KILLED MY SQUAD!!!

Should you select the Renegade option, you then punch it in the face.
Maybe a renegade option should be to feed that bitchy reporter from the first two games to it.
