Say what you want about Black Ops 2, but the soundtrack is fantastic

This makes me forget about Zimmer's indescribably bland score for MW2 pretty much instantly. Jack Wall has outdone even his Mass Effect work. Over 2 hours of music and only a small minority is boring, something that's rare for any soundtrack, really.
A perfect combination of pumping electronics and a more traditional score, it's probably one of the best soundtracks I've heard in years. It's a great listen on its own as well, never getting bogged down in orchestra hits and other cliches.
That, and the main theme by Trent Reznor is surprisingly haunting and downplayed, who would've thought that would ever happen in a CoD game? Creativity and restraint?

This is one of the more pumping, modern sounding ones:

The one you posted kind of reminds me of Timesplitters.
This is never a bad thing.

Aye.

The music is well implemented into the game as well. I already listened to the entire soundtrack when I posted this, but I wasn't far into the game. The more I play, the more I notice just how well the music fits.

Thanks for the thread. I was never intending to even try Black Ops 2, but this is definitely a valuable soundtrack to exhibit. I am trying to expand my knowledge of VGM and commercial music scores in general for inspiration to help my future compositions, so this is a great addition to learn from.

It was reminding me a little of F-Zero GX for some reason. Again this is no bad thing.

Is Damned on the Zombies mode again? That was probably my favourite track in Black Ops.

Haven't played the Zombie mode yet, but there's no such track on the official soundtrack, at least.

Till now all I've heard was dubstep. For like 2 seconds before I turned off the music.

Admittedly this was in the multiplayer. But still.
49 tracks on the OST and no dubstep.

SO how is the campaign and gameplay? I was interested in Blops 2 but wanted to wait till some more people start talking about it. Also I'm not interested in multiplayer at all.

OT: Reminds me of timesplitters... That is a good thing. The soundtrack sounds amazing from what people have shown me.

That is because Trent Reznor is involved, dudes a music genius! Even his worst albums are still pretty good.

In the club in Plaza, there's dubstep playing although I don't know if that would be in the soundtrack.

I have to agree. Besides the one Skrillex song and the dubstep in the club bit (it may very well be the same song, I don't know or care =P) I love it.

Trent Reznor, Avenged Sevenfold, Jack Wall, a bit of Elbow, a sprinkle of BigGiantCircles as well, it's brilliant.

I totally agree, and it really caught me by surprise as I don't normally expect awesome soundtracks from CoD games, but this one is amazing.

Did someone say Timesplitters?
Awesome atmosphere and creepy zombies.

Then you fight evil catholic necromancers alongside the Hunchback of Notre Dam and blast the shit out of a Colossus.

Hero's Theme is amazing, especially with the best ending.

The section that begins at 1:00 is damn-near perfect. Wall knocked this one out of the park.

Actually, this just goes to show that one should never write off a whole game just because some aspects of it may be bad, no matter how major.

The last Call of Duty game that I purchased was World at War (CoD 5 for those still counting) I haven't had any interest in a Call of Duty game since, but the more I hear about Black Ops II, the more I'm thinking I might just have to buy this one... I never thought I'd hear myself say that...

Ok, stoped reading there (Actually I didnt, but it was hard to continue from there).

The soundtrack for MW2 is one of the reasons I considerate it to the best COD game so far. Then again MW2 was the first COD I have played so I kind of have a soft stop for it. Maybe.
