Scalebound Trailers Are Disappearing From YouTube

Scalebound trailers are disappearing from the official Xbox YouTube channel after yesterday's news of the game's cancellation.

Yesterday, Microsoft confirmed rumors that development on Platinum Games' upcoming action role-playing game was delayed to 2017 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/169224-Scalebound-Canceled-Microsoft-Platinum-Part-Ways#&gid=gallery_6770&pid=1] just over a year ago, with little heard since.

Since yesterday's announcement, Microsoft has deleted all mention of Scalebound from nearly every official channel. All trailers for the game on the official Xbox YouTube account have been set to private, and all that remains on the official Scalebound website [https://www.scaleboundgame.com/] is the announcement from a Microsoft spokesperson, which reads: "Today, I have a difficult announcement to share that affects our fans, Microsoft Studios team and a valued partner. After careful deliberation, we have come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. This decision was not made lightly. At Microsoft, we remain committed to making Xbox and Windows 10 the best places to play games, and look forward to bringing "Halo Wars 2", "Crackdown 3", "State of Decay 2", "Sea of Thieves" and other great experiences to our fans."

The Scalebound Twitter account [https://twitter.com/Scalebound?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor] is still live, although there has been no update since September, with the exception of the news of the cancellation.

Eyeah, trying to cover it up by removing the game video will NOT make the people forgot about the cancelled game!

But hey! Phil Spencer says that this'll be better for Xbox games, so we'll just have to believe it, right?

You'd think Spencer means "for Xbox gamers"... but he's really saying there are gonna be 4 Xbox gamers left. That's OK, though, since they're better!

Well, that's pretty logical actually. You don't leave promotional material for the product you are no longer releasing sitting around on your official store fronts.

I thought this was going to be something Konami or SEGA-esque and they were filing copyright strikes against channels that had re-posted it.

That's what I was expecting too. This... well, you don't keep up signs for the McRib when you're not selling the McRib anymore, right?

The game's been cancelled; who cares?

why advertise something that's never going to exist?

I know this may sound crazy but there are some people whose like to revisit old game trailers regardless if it has been cancelled or not.

Once again the industry shows utter contempt towards preserving the medium's history. Cancelled or no, the trailers should be preserved for posterity.
