Scenes that make you go "Oh that's just wrong."

You've been there - a scene in a game or TV or a movie or even something in a book that makes your skin crawl. Where your first thought is "I could have done without seeing this" and your second is "Who decided to do this?"

One of mine would be Saren at the end of Mass Effect. Yu kill him and you think erything's just tidying up at this point, until he gets back up, his cybernetics tear free from his corpse and then he comes at you like this monstrous skittering spider.

The big one I can think of is from the 1991 remake of Cape Fear. Basically, Robert De Niro plays a rapist thug who, after getting out of prison, decides to go after his lawyer in revenge for convincing him to plead guilty. I think. It's been a while since I saw the movie.

What I do remember strongly is a scene with Robert De Niro's character targeting a random woman. I'm putting what he does in spoilers, because good God.

In the middle of the assault, he bites into her cheek and tears a chunk off. On-screen. Best part? It wasn't even in the script. Robert De Niro got really into character, thought it sounded like something his character would do, and the make-up team made it happen.

I remember the movie being pretty good, but that scene was hard to watch.

Silent Hill movie, where Pyramid Head tears off the girl's skin and then throws her remains against the door. I literally shouted in the theater, "Oooooh SNAP!" because it was so gross (I don't swear in public).
Thankfully, it was just me, my friend, and two old ladies sitting in the front who looked like they were in their sixties or seventies.

Not a fan of the eye part in Dead Space 2 either. I've never screwed it up--nor have I seen clips of people screwing it up because oh God, why?--but I always look away just before the needle goes in because ew...

Saving Private Ryan. The knife fight at the end. I will never watch that scene ever again. Ever. Well filmed and probably damn accurate, but never again.

There was a 2015 film called Everly. It was alright, I suppose, if you're into that pulp violence aesthetic.

It had a scene involving a person swallowing acid that I really could have done without though.

Speedgrapher seemed to have at least one per episode, at least from the four episodes I saw, but it was based around a secret nightclub where you can indulge any fetish you like, laws be damned, and individuals gaining superpowers from those fetishes.

Safest I can probably discuss is the introduction first of the villains, a ballet dancer who when he dons a gimp suit he becomes living rubber.

We see him perform, then a mother presents her daughter (pre-teen at most) to him as a potential student, and the daughter dances... when he freaks out about her not being flexible enough, grabs her arm and tries to pull it ways its not meant to...

And we hear a crunch.

The part in Prey where you see a little girl get possessed by a weird alien spirit, explode, leaving behind a ghost girl that then picks up and impales a young boy on a spike.

Literally the most messed up thing I have EVER seen in a video game, period.

I hope the new Prey actually -doesn't- out disturb the original.

For me, it's that one scene in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011) where the female lead, Lisbeth Salander, is anally raped by her assigned social worker, who objectified her and used her status of being 'mentally disturbed' to take advantage of her. Naturally, she gets revenge, but the moments leading up to this harrowing scene had me saying "I don't like where this is going" the whole time.

I love the movie and all the books in the series (minus the 2015 installment that I just now realized existed; I'm going to have to check that out now), but this scene in particular, will always be burned into my brain as being truly gut wrenching. It's because of this scene alone that makes it difficult for me to recommend to movie to anyone who hasn't read the books.

I will recommend to books to anyone, especially if they enjoy suspense thriller mystery novels.

Just about any horror movies, that have violence to the point of fetishizing it. I don't mind blood, but torture porn-like scenes don't sit well with me. Which is why I have trouble finding good horror movies anymore.

Has anybody seen Antichrist with William Dafoe in? There is one particular scene that stands out with his girlfriend and a pair of scissors. *Shivers* That is burnt into the retina for sure. There are a few cringey scenes in that film that make you think "no...wait...what??" but I think that one hasn't been topped by completely coming out of the blue and not shying away in any sense. The difference between that type of film and those cheap shock films is the grounded, sober tone that doesn't make you consistently roll your eyes at a creator just trying to be edgy. Also contrast.

Also I just completed the Outlast DLC, Whistleblower last night. Anyone who has experienced that game will probably understand the messed up mutilation within. Probably the only game that has pulled it off in a way that doesn't feel tasteless. There is a weighty seriousness to how fucked up everything going on is there. Roll on Outlast 2!

Well OP, you are in for a surprise in this world if Mass Effect is your example.

I have had this experience just from reading synopsis' and peoples comments on movies such as A Serbian Tale, 100 Days of Sodom, and there are a bunch more that will pop up on IMDB. Irreversible...

Just reading what happens makes you feel a little ill.

Jurrasic World when that British assistant get swoop up by that Pterodactyl like creature but only for them to get gobble up by that large sea dinosaur! Worse part is that thing didn't bite or chew her so she is most likely been still alived being swollow!

I mean come on! That was just wrong! I mean compared to the very first film, the gore were offscene like that Samuel L Jackon charater got eaten by the raptor offscreen but only his severed arm remained!

Ok yes you can argue with that guy getting chew in half by the T-Rex in 2 but at least he died before being pulled into two!

Wow. You guys make mine look weak :(

Stick's torture scene in Daredevil S2. I hate it so much because I know that people would really do things like that, even today. As we speak, the Yakuza is probably fucking up someone's day with 10 barbecue sticks.

The scene in Berserk where Wyald and his mercenary band come across that nice family of farmers that helped out Guts and the gang. Berserk has a lot of bad stuff happening, but that one was particulary awful, and kind of unnecessary too, since not moments later we see their physical remains paraded around by Wyald, giving the audience a proper indication as to what had previously occured.

This wasn't exactly wrong. Just weird.

I just saw Kubo and the Two Strings last night. Great movie, but watching Monkey give a Beetle a back massage while Beetle enthusiastically enjoyed it had me feeling a bit weirded out. It was made slightly less weird by the fact that Monkey didn't seem to be enjoying it any more than I was.

EDIT: Boy this one looks really out of place next to all of the others. Can I delete this?

There was a torture scene in GoT that made me cringe pretty bad. Cersie cut an incision around a dudes nipple, and then peeled it off. Ugh.

You know, I thought I'd seen everything. I thought I'd finally been desensitized. I'd seen all those schlocky horror films. I'd seen the video nasties. I'd seen the edgiest, most violent anime out there. Then I saw antichrist, and I went hell no. I was still reeling from the last scene, and when I saw what she was about to do I turned the movie off and went for a long drive to rethink my life.

Agreed there. That's two kinds of uncomfortable at once.

Qyburn does that IIRC, Cersei feels sick watching it happen, but claims it's all "for the greater good".

For me, any form of rape scene or genital mutilation makes me feel uncomfortable, as I suppose is the case with most people.

Evil Dead 2013 movie ....

Where uh, Mia gets chased by the haunting spirit in the woods and eventually, it catches up with her. Eventually vines and branches with thorns on it takes the girl prisoner; holding Mia's limbs out. The demonic spirit let's this black slime / slug climb out of her throat and the freaken thing begins to crawl towards Mia. It goes up Mia's leg and- ok i'll be blunt. The bloody thing slithers into her vagina -_-

It's just super gross. I was really uncomfortable with the fact they went that far- I get the evil spirit was trying to possess Mia, but did they HAVE to do it like that? Why not have it slither up and climb into Mia's mouth? Or why not have a more disturbing scene then .... whatever that was? I don't see how having a black slug go inside someone's vagina could- you see where i'm going with this???

That's just wrong and it clearly isn't something I can take either seriously or accept >_>
That scene I think was meant to be a modern reference to the original film which had a woman in a similar unfortunate incident. Also, as far as I'm aware, the film is not supposed to be taken seriously. It is one of those teetering so close to the edge of acting serious, that it's easy to mistake, but it's best to go in with a lighter heart. :)
