Oh I see, you're one of those....

....A FRACTION OF THE WORLD'S SCIENTIFIC PRODUCT IS GROUNDS FOR CONDEMNING EVERYTHING PEOPLE SMARTER THAN YOU HAVE EVER DONE.
Its obvious what your doing. Your rather determined to try to paint me as some irrational hate filled Christian conservative spouting nonsense like vaccines cause retardation. You are WAY off base, and your perception is clearly wrong. I even said in that post that Not all science is inherently bad. But you purposely glanced over it because it renders everything you wrote meaningless. I never condemned all of science. You are determined to put those words in my mouth. What I said is.. that there is no reason to BLINDLY trust science now. There is a long track history of scientific FAILURE that has found its way into peoples hands. That has rapidly ramped up over the last 100 years. Thats why it must be questioned and why Scientists are not by default due reverent FAITH which is basically what your demanding.

I don't care how many links you provide or how many walls of text you use
Of course not. When you disagree with someone dealing with facts that disagree only gets in the way. This sort of attitude and irrational zealotry is why people look at science as modern religion.

Persist in your self-(edit: the use of "Self" is redundant)delusional ignorance all you want.
Your welcome to do the same. Quite frankly I have expressed my opinion, I have backed it up with facts and figures and I am done giving you fodder to make unfounded and aggressive personal attacks for expressing that opinion.

Other thought:

Question EVERYTHING.

So long as they are reasonably priced this is amazing. If they cost twice that of a regular pizza I don't see it getting much traction in the lower middle class who buy a lot of cheap junk foods.

The difference between skepticism and paranoia is a fine line, and I think you've put a toe beyond it. As with all issues the important thing is to make an informed opinion. Things that generally cause health problems or complications as side effects are also generally things that are attempting to solve very complicated issues within the human body. It also usually isn't an over-site or "rushing it out the door" that cause these types of side effects to become apparent after release. It is because they are now being taken by a much larger treatment group and thus things that are rarer will start to reveal themselves that simply couldn't be prior. Other negative health affects (say from lead paint) usually occur only if the the product is used inappropriately (in the case of lead paint when eaten).

Now looking at the case of a nutritionally balanced Pizza. They are not trying to alter any bodily functions, and its intended use is to be eaten. What they did to make it nutritionally balanced was to add specific levels of various nutrients that you already eat and need to live and make sure to restrict things that we have a tendency to over consume. Once more they used natural sources to do most of this (sea weed, red pepper, and such).

So unless you think they are downright being malicious and secretly adding toxic substances you're kinda over reacting.

As a side note I'm a bit curious what ailments you think are directly a result scientific advancement. There are some things that are indirectly a result of scientific advancement (pollution most prominently) but that is not the fault of science/scientists. That is the fault of the markets/demand.

I love that the creators of the first perfectly healthy pizza are called "Lean" and "Maclean"

I'm curious about how much these would actually cost to mass produce.

Obviously if it ever even makes it to the US, it'll get some bizarre import cost tacked on, then an additional charge for not being greasy shit, then an additional charge because it'll likely only be sold by "health food stores" which will tack an additional 40-60% on to the cost because they're all run by the fat equivalent of the Joker.

But seriously, just the cost to the producer making these, how much would it actually be. Seaweed crust? BBC link says it'll be a bit more than usual frozen pizzas(dirt cheap, in the US at least, $4-$8 depending on brand and size, personal sized ones can run $1.50) but less than "chilled" ones, which I assume are the kind prepared in store and sold without being frozen($10-$20)

That's a wide gap to fill, but yeah I really don't know how they're priced in that corner of the world so I suppose trying to draw a comparison is pretty pointless.

Scientists of the world! Please make all foods "healthier" because I have a complete lack of impulse control and self-moderation!

Seriously guys, calm the fuck down.

Comparing against something as inedible as generic frozen pizza sets quite a low bar, though.

I wish them well, but Scott Adams of "Dilbert" fame tried a very similar concept with the "Dilburrito".

You will note they no longer exist.

Hahaha this probably won't be funny to anybody else, but am I the only one who noticed that the guy's name is Donnie MacLean, which is very similar to Don McLean? That's the guy who sang "American Pie." Pizzas come in pies. Haha I know it's a stretch... but laugh with me, fellas!

Also, this is good news. Pizza can already be healthy though, it just depends on the ingredients. I would LOVE to have access to that seaweed dough though... Is it weird that I think it sounds delicious?

While we'll have to wait and see whether nutritionally balanced meals will make their way to North America, please feel free to share which favorite artery-clogging meal you'd like to see a healthy version of in the comments.
