Section 8: Prejudice Drops Later This Month

Section 8: Prejudice, the upcoming shooter with the great big guns and the little tiny price tag, will be out later this month for the Xbox 360, with PC and PlayStation 3 versions following soon after.

Section 8 [http://www.amazon.com/Section-8-Pc/dp/B001TM3NXE/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1302111066&sr=1-1] wasn't exactly a huge hit when it landed on the PC and consoles in 2009, but it's getting a sequel anyway. The catch is that instead of being a big, beefy, triple-A release with a $60 price tag, the follow-up, Section 8: Prejudice, will be a big, beefy triple-A release with a $15 price tag. That's the plan: a full-fledged shooter with all the trimmings for 1200 Microsoft points.

The game will feature a five-hour single-player campaign but is focused primarily on team-based multiplayer action, with support for 32 players in conventional combat and four players in a co-op "Swarm mode" described as "shooter gameplay meets tower defense." Bots are available for quick offline action in all play modes, while dedicated servers, clan management tools and statistics are supported on all three platforms. Dynamic missions, customizable loadouts, level progression and unlockables are also on the menu.

As a thank-you to fans, developer TimeGate Studios is offering special, level-based content bonuses to players of the original Section 8. Anyone who played the first game [and is still using the same Gamertag or PSN ID] will be given the unlockable Aegis Armor and Reactive Plating upgrade; gamers who have achieved level 25 will also get the Ablative Plating upgrade; and those who have hit level 50 will earn the Explosives Amplifier upgrade.

Sound hot, or at least maybe worth the price of a decent lunch? Find out more about Section 8: Prejudice at warisprejudice.com [http://warisprejudice.com/]. Section 8: Prejudice arrives on the Xbox Live Arcade on April 20, followed by the PC version on Steam and the Games for Windows Marketplace on May 4. The PlayStation Network launch date hasn't yet been nailed down but will come sometime in summer.

$15 USD?

Sure, I'll check this out. First one was rather interesting, but still mostly "meh". This one looks more or less the same, but a lot cheaper. Which is nice.

And they are still using GFWL? That's just silly. I like S8, played it to "death" until MW2 was released :p

I saw TotalHalibut playing this. It looks pretty fun. I might check it out.

The first game was really fun. Not perfect of course but whatever, it costed me $14.99 on the PSN during a deal weekend thing. It was the battlefront that was never made just that the stormtroopers were launched from space into earth during each spawn. Which is always fun! :D

As A Liberal I am fundamentally opposed to Prejudice.
But this looks pretty good...
Would you say you're Prejudiced to it?

OT: I only care when I see it with a PC release and possibly a demo.

I'll buy it...

Shit, a fully functioning FPS multi-mode for $15? Without going to the store?

You got my cash.

Better than other cheap online-only $15 FPS games.

So when does Section 8: Pride come out?
hee hee :D

anyway, I am quite interested in this, especially so considering I've lost DAYS of my life to Battlefront II, this seems like an adequate adaptaion of that to the current console generation

plus, only $15 yay

I caught TotalBiscuit playing this myself, found it looking quite fun with all the bells and whistles that Epic failed to put into UT3.

And I can get a decent lunch for a lot less than $15(without resorting to Subway or fast food). A decent supper, on the other hand...

I certainly won't be getting this game. Picked up the original shortly after release because it looked awesome. Loved the single player (even with the lame bots etc.). And then the crash - tried to connect to multiplayer. 6 weeks, a full reinstall of windows, no firewall / anti-virus / any other type of protection software and STILL could not connect to the game servers..... a couple of mediocre responses from the support team were no help at all.

So yeah... a basically unplayable game, since it also featured a 3-5 hr campaign in favour of multiplayer (which didn't work).

Purchase the sequel at your own peril.

Oh, god. The first Section 8 had the worst weapon-balancing system that I've ever used in a game. I never even attempted multiplayer. Why on Earth would they make a sequel?!

While the whole "shooter + tower defense" idea is a bit intriguing, I don't think I'll pick it up solely for that (Then again, everybody picked up Halo 3: ODST for Firefight, didn't they?). I have too little faith in the game as it is.

It does use GFWL, but from I saw in the beta, it works quite well (dedicated servers and all), but I will be waiting for the ps3 release.

I'll be honest. One of the reason's I will get this game is because the announcer guy sounds like the Evil DouchePants guy in Crackdown.

Speaking of cheap online shooters, does anyone play Black Light Tango Down anymore? I played that a few times and thought it was fun but I Could never find a good match.

Also this was my captcha: http://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/image?c=03AHJ_Vusg52gwvcWaTpvvS7HOk_syX-SqK8IokJxLEE5fuBnooF6vvKrIerje04nAK9J0a9eYKfsdbOXu-3dcZ8dYsG_Mfkvpk1B2qTdLcAeTppmQg6nOJX2uNhbXh5p1W6_go0TaTkYRphPg7wvc0QRc8j9Z3JA3eA

What the hell? How am I suppose to type whatever that is? That isn't even Greek is it?

Debating if I'm going to get the 360 or PC version. Either way, it reminds me of the awesomeness that was Tribes!

And I too saw the preview on TotalBiscuit; got me super excited for the game.

Because who makes sequels to improve on the original's shortcomings, am I right?
