Semi colons in smileys

for some reason a group of my friends have started using semi colons following smileys, like this XD;;

Does anyone have any idea what thats about? its really pissig me off, I dont even know why but it is.

you know, i started to do that with -_-'' / -.-'' but only because my typing is so bad [so I do it as -_-;;].

But i doubt thats why your friends do it haha.
The only emote ive seen that uses that is a ^^;; which is used in a sexually driven situation.

Maybe your friends are trying to give you a deeper message? ;D...;;
