@Caramelized Corpse Coffee:

Few things you could do there. I'd mostly make it a Necro themed round.

First you can change up the roles so the spy becomes something like the death speaker who can divine from the dead a possible list of who killed them.

That said there's also some room for adding roles, or role tweaking. So perhaps the priest/ reviver gets to keep his power. That all resurrected people have to obey their masters, or else will be destroyed at the end of a cycle.

Could work well for a smaller round. Unfortunately the killer would have some issues with it. Of course, he might also have a reviver on his side to even odds. Or go with a similar round to Arms, where many people have necro themed roles...

Using the dead as a resource has proven interesting thusfar this round. Although balance tweaking would be very tricky. Hell, it's almost been a little unbalanced this round. I think what would have worked better is if the undead trickster had to work immediately in the next voting cycle. That way they cannot bum rush the killer at the end.

Until I release the voting results that's a bit unfair of an assessment, isn't it? Without going into too much detail - the dead Tricksters have definitely had some effect so far but I'd say by an large the greatest impact on voting is voter turnout. I had to send out a few PMs to get just above the 65% a few times now. The Tricksters thus far have mostly broken ties rather than outright executed someone.

The dead Tricksters could probably use a bit of tweaking but it seems at least by the forum posts and PMs I've received to keep the dead players more engaged. That was the primary objective anyway.

@Wary Wolf: I like it when the GM makes the Round interesting, but I agree- balance should come first. Not sure if you were with us at the time, but I remember a round being so unfair because evil had so many allies that we removed the 'citizens can side with evil'. This doesn't stop them from helping the Killer, but at least now every citizen / person apart from the Killer (except Lawyer) must die. Beforehand all the evil citizens would survive and win alongside the Killer, which say if you had 5 people altogether, they'd win the votes every cycle until no one could stop them.
Are you talking about round 72 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.883844-Serial-killer-round-72-The-Land-of-Dinosaurs-from-the-Future]? Oh I remember getting everyone to murder innocent o' Factral Fractral Hermaeus Mora-Chan that round by giving out a fake list. That was fun.

People can still be evil, but now you won't win if you're innocent and the Killer must off you as a result.
We already had a pretty flame-y debate about that in round 73, Frappe. People don't give two shits about "win" conditions and rather mess around and spread anarchy. It's more the experience than the end destination.

Which exactly why this round was pretty fun.

I like your idea on how the Necro themed Round would go. Only issue is, I'd have to be the Killer this Round to GM next Round lol.
Oh god, for a second I thought you were talking about me specifically. Man, fuck Evil! That fuckin douchebag with all his friends and shit.

Good deathpost by the way, the picture worked really well.

[HEADING=2]Test subject 009 (Caramel Frappe) is dead! Begin cycle 8![/HEADING] He was the Lawyer and has now joined with the massive Trickster blob.

The Killer may now act.[hr]Holy mole-y. You guys managed to SCIENCE[sup]TM[/sup] someone who wasn't innocent for once. Color me surprised.

Test Subject 003 rarely spoke in the usual sense. Mainly using it's radio to blast "shitty-ass" music with coincidental titles if the Shazam Droid is correct. Once the call came in involving the Killer's next act, I re-buttered a new batch of popcorn and expected some form of subversion considering Test Subject 003's now-not-perfect voting record. The irony would be laughable if that was intended, but SCIENCE[sup]TM[/sup] does not play that kind of round if this dialogue transcript is to be believed:Killer: *enters Test Subject 003's sleeping quarters*
Test Subject 003: *indifference* Oh... It's you...
Killer: *grins* So, you can speak without that radio?
Test Subject 003: Hello, old friend... Have you come to kill me?
Killer: Pretty much... Then, SCIENCE[sup]TM[/sup] happens, not-that-obscure Goosebumps reference, and then more SCIENCE[sup]TM[/sup]...
Test Subject 003: Sounds repetitive...
Killer: You're one to talk... Any last words?
Test Question 003: Just a question... What took you so long?
Killer: *confused* Pardon?
Test Subject 003: I mean, I haven't voted for your death [mostly] for nothing...
Killer: Seriously?
*pause for dramatic effect*
Test Subject 003: So, why did it take you this long to want to kill me?
Killer: *sighs* Honestly, it was a mix between forgetfulness and a lack of any other living test subjects to choose from...
Test Subject 003: What about [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]?
Killer: Eh... Kinda falls into the same category, I guess... Only, upon reflection, I was kinda hoping you cared a bit more...
Test Subject 003: I see... *turns on radio*
Approximately 2 minutes and 34 seconds after receiving this dialogue transcript, I lost primary connection with Test Subject 003. It seems that SCIENCE[sup]TM[/sup] has done the rest for now. And to think Test Subject 003 would not result in a breakthrough. I was more than half-right at 55%.

Test subject 003 took "death" with much indifference... What a pacifist...
Now, in regards to that radio, it does not seem to work on any particular power source and any indication of a power source has turned up false. Could it be that Test Subject 003 was the actual radio all this time? The data seems to agree, but without any further testing, this is more of a theory at best. Regardless, this is nothing more than a[nother] non-sequitur of a footnote to the overall experiment. Time is running low and the experiment is almost complete. The rest is up to SCIENCE[sup]TM[/sup] once more!

[HEADING=2]Test Subject 003 (FPLOON) is dead! Voting will now begin![/HEADING]

He had no role and now has become a Trickster.

Tricksters may now act. Everyone has until July 26 10:00EST to get their votes in![hr]Down to the line now. This is the last cycle the innocents will have a majority of the vote. Make sure you get your votes in!

Also plot stuff:
The sound of an ancient generator turning on echoes through the laboratory. A few lights closest to the doorways lights flicker hesitantly before finally turning back on. While not enough to illuminate everything, it's enough for you to navigate reasonably through the lab again. Returning to the hallway you came from you notice now that it seems to be some sort of service passage. The automated door held closed with the power on now lies open. Inside lights line the floor to help lead service personal. A sign in red letters glows bright with the letters EXIT and an arrow indicating which direction to go.

It looks as good a lead as any. You decide the follow it. The passage is much easier to navigate with the emergency lights on but still winds its way around the faculty in a complicated labyrinth. You hear a sound from up a head and decide to investigate.

You fine yourself in a dimly lit room just off from the service passage. In the center of the room is table with several chairs and human shaped figures in them. Close to one a shadowy figure in hunched over and seems to be removing something from the humanoid closest to it. Hearing you approach the figure casts a quick glance over its shoulder toward you before darting out of the room through a passage opposite of the one you entered through.

You approach the table. Sitting at it are about half a dozen mannequins - some are complete but the majority are missing a limb or two. It looks like they might have once been used to teach aspiring medical professionals but now taken upon a new role. All of them have large animu eyes crudely drawn on them. One looks to be in particular good condition.

The robot stands up and stares at you. The drawn on blush does nothing to dissuade you - the look in its eyes - it's screaming, dead on the inside. Something within this robot is crying out, hoping to end its existence. Before you can approach it any further, the robot turns to its side and walks over to the wall. It begins to beat its head against the wall. Again and again until finally it stops and slides to the ground. It lies there silent.

Throw the game, Mora!
Mora-Chan stepped up to the post, sweat running down her face. With one tentacle she grasped the bat loosely, while with the other she shaded her eyes, watching as Boethia-Chan fiddled with the ball.
Throw the game, Mora!
Mora-Chan saw the words on the lips of Molag Bal-Kun and Dagon-Kun, the team captains. It was Sheogorath-Kun's birthday, and they wanted to let him win.
Throw the game, Mora!
Mora-Chan lifted the bat into position as Boethia-Chan threw the ball. She still hadn't decided what to do. Hestitantly, Mora-Chan moved the bat to knock the ball off to the left, knowing that she wouldn't be able to run on it. Was that the right thing to do? Shouldn't she at least try to win?

A knife slid between Hermaeus Mora-Chan's ribs. She gasped, suddenly snapped out of her pleasant memories of baseball in the Daedric Academy. There was blood on the floor, and more was joining it quickly. And after somebody spent so much time keeping this place a septic white...
It didn't matter who put the knife there. Mora-Chan slumped to her knees, then fell to the floor. Her senses were fading fast, and as the light went out in her eyes she heard three sets of footsteps, walking away in unison.

[HEADING=2]Test Subject 001 (Fractral Factral) is dead! Begin cycle 9![/HEADING]Forgot to mention, Trickster(s) were definitely involved.
He had no role and has now become a Trickster.

The Killer may now act.[hr]I'm tired. Probably won't be able to check in here again until later at night.
@DCJF: The Tricksters still have a say in this final outcome. We've played with them this long might as well see how it all ends.

I never believed the tricksters were real. How is that science? The dead reaching from beyond the grave, it was a silly notion. And yet here I am, reunited with familiar faces. If ya'll had faces anymore. How did I die? Wandering into traffic trying to catch a Pikachu. Because science. Where did all those pokemon go when I transferred them to Willow? Where did those candies come from? Curious minds need to know.
