Shadow of the Colossus Problem

Yeah so I just bought Shadow of the Colossus HD for the PS3 (first time ever playing it) and spent about six hours downloading it. It's frustrating but nothing is more frustrating than getting to the second Colossus and realising you don't have a bow! I looked up a walkthrough and I should have it by now and multiple places say I start with it and to select it with the D-Pad but I tried that and it just selects my fists. Have I done something wrong? Do I need to go somewhere to get it or does this game just hate me?

I beat this game long long ago on the ps2 and never had this issue, perhaps in upgrading the graphics they updated its glitching out levels.
Fantastic game though, don't give up.

I have the game on PS2 as well and I've never heard of this issue, even on the PS3 version. The bow should be there when you cycle between weapons.

I have the HD version and didn't have this issue, you might need to try re-installing the game, I'm afraid.

This might sound stupid, but have you tried pressing every other button?

Have you tried left and right on the D-pad?

If you already have done so, and you have no bow, you either have a seriously rare gamebreaking bug, or your controller is knackered.

I played it on the PS3 2 weeks ago and had no problem.
Try pressing the D-Pad to the right a couple times. It takes a while until he draws it

Yes, several Colossi have to be toppled or brought to ground by using the bow.

The giant sand dragon springs to mind. You have to puncture it's air sacks with arrow to bring it low enough so you can jump onto it.

I'm sorry, but did I just here that there was a PROBLEM with shadow of the colossus? That just... that just doesn't seem possible from where I'm standing, especially with the problem that you seem to be having. Just push left and right on the D pad until the bow pops up, if it doesn't work, then your controller might be the problem, I don't really know.

Well there's the one in the arena. You have to shoot it's legs while it's scaling the walls to get it to fall on it's back.

Plus, arrows are used to make a colossi aggressive, so it makes them a lot easier to manipulate into going where you want them to.

I'm pretty sure you have to press the d-pad left or right a couple of times to select the bow. If you can't use the bow then I'm not sure what the problem is.

There's the last colossus where you have to shoot it in the right places so he'll swat that place and give you a chance to move around. And if I recall correctly, there's the one that lives in the sand that you have to shoot in the face or something while riding away from him too.

OT: I don't remember having to get the bow, so I have to ask a simple question: did you try pushing right twice? Maybe the order is sword>fists>bow

Real men need not of any bows.

The game can be completed without a bow if you have a high enough stamina. Just use the eagle to catch the flying sand dragon and the sword does the rest of the job.

don't for get the one you have to get chasing you, turn around an shoot it in the eyes to make it crash, or the lizard one that climbs the walls and you have to shoot its feet

There's also the 5th Colossus, the big bird. You'll need a bow to get it to do anything other than sit on a pole and look menacing. Oh, and the 8th one, the one in the cage, is nigh impossible without a bow. The 9th has a similar deal to the 2nd.

And, as others have said, you definitely should have the bow from the start. If you don't, it might be a huge glitch.

I actually JUST played through it last week and I assure you, you definitely have the bow at game's start.
