So, I've been meaning to get Portal 2 as soon as possible, (mainly because I never can stay clear of spoilers, and I really dont want to ruin Portal 2's ending) but the price is a bit too steep. I plan on playing it on my PS3, and with the PS3 version, you get a copy for PC or Mac too. I have a few questions about this, though.

I talked to a friend, and he's been planning to get it for PC. Naturally, a lower price is in his interests, so he would be in on it, if i buy it on ps3 and give the pc code to him.

Now, as far as I know, you can only activate your copy on Steam on PC if you log in to your PSN account and then link them. So, can I create an account on MY PS3 for my friend, start the game, link that PSN account to his Steam account, and then voila, he gets Portal 2?

This would work, after all, this is the way it's meant to be done. But then, could I play Portal 2 on my own PSN account? I mean, that's pretty much as if I bought the game used, right? And could I play Portal 2 online? Could I link it to MY Steam account, or could I only play it with other PS3 users?

I bought it for my brothers PS3. I made a PSN account, activated it for my steam and downloaded it on my PC. So now I can play co op with my own copy. I use my steam, and the PS3 copy uses a different profile. It's great.

Well at least I could. Before you know what.

I'm giving my code to my brother so we can play co-op without having to halve the screen size. I can't comment on how well it works, because of the PSN outage, I never got a chance to link my PSN profile to his Steam account.

I bought it on ps3 basically just for the PC code. In theory (thanks psn) I play it on PC while my wife coops on the playstation.

Eventually I suppose.

No, the ps3 version comes with a code that can be activated on any steam account, i don't believe its limited to the one you sync with your psn account. So you and your friend shouldn't have a problem.
