Shontel Brown (running for Marcia Fudges seat in Ohio) in trouble over an ethics violation

Shontel Brown is running against Nina Turner for Ohio's 11th congressional district. Nina Turner has been the odds on favorite for months to win, and if she wins the primary she'll almost certainly win the seat, which has been a problem for centrist Democrats who have congealed behind her opponent, Shontel Brown. Brown is notably far further right than Turner is and has gained the backing of Hillary Clinton, Jim Clyburn (and the congressional black caucus), Trump flunky Robert Kraft, and other prominent resisters to change.

But it turns out Brown might have used her previous office to enrich her friends. It was reported on by news outlets in June, and now officially the matter has been taken up by the state ethics board as a potential violation. Brown was already trailing Turner, and this is definitely only going to make things worse for the political parasite.

Corrupt shills have to be corrupt shills what else is new. Also, I remember Nina Turner hugging John Kasich my former governor who funny enough came from where I lived. I think she will be as progressive as AOC, but not as progressive as in my opinion to the gold standard democratic socialist Representative Rashida Tlaib.

An example of their work together.

Oh, and if you lived in the 11th district. Do what you have to do to get her elected so that Hillary Clinton can get fucked.

Oh, and of course I donated to her. I want her to destroy the democratic, and Republican establishments.

Voting is over and it's being tallied. Brown's lead isn't technically insurmountable, but it almost certainly is. The centrists bought this election and it worked.

But something interesting to note is that while the votes are being tallied, there were 3 other races in Ohio today. The Republican primary for whoever wins OH-11, as well as the D and R primary over in OH-15.

Now, looking at the numbers here in the primaries, OH-11 is a solid solid blue district, you could run a head of cabbage with a D next to it's name and it'd win. That's why centrists couldn't really pull their normal "electability" argument here and had to resort to saying Turner is against M4A(?). Looking at the primary, of the votes cast between the two, the Republican primary is ~6% of the vote, they basically don't exist. So there was no real point in going all in on the primary, it just happened because Hillary is a salty ***** and Clyburn can't stand having anyone else in congress not towing his line.

However over in OH-15, it's currently an R-leaning district, but has voted D before recently. And in the current primary race the D vote is 25% of the vote, making it a prime candidate for flipping blue in the general. Of course that will require a strong ground game early on. The primary would have actually been a great time to get a head start on the general, and this is somewhere where the Dems endless coffers could have accomplished something, even if it's getting a shitty centrist elected over an obstructionist R. Since whoever won 11 was going to win the general, the Dems could have saved money and threw it at winning a second seat in the general, instead they're going to only get 1 seat, and it's going to be someone uninspiring and only vaguely better than an R, mostly because of Trump derangement from the right.

In writing this post, NYT called the race for Brown and I have a hard time disputing that. Pretty disgusting that the corporate Dems are so petty.

No matter how corrupt they are! If you don't, the corrupt Republican might win!

If Brown ends up losing I'll laugh my ass off. But the only way I see that happening is if her ethics probe goes somewhere meaningful, like forcing her to drop out.

This spot is done with though, correct? This Primary was to replace some D leaving so Brown has the spot won. They're not going to be going up against a Republican or someone else (at least until the next "general" election for this position whenever this position ends), right?

So this is Brown's spot to keep unless they somehow find enough corruption that they force her out (and considering how much of this kind of corruption is just standard play with Republicans and Democrats today, I sincerely doubt she's going to get taken out this way), right?

So just another "nothing will fundamentally change" Democrat put in.

No, this was a primary for an actual vote that will be happening later. Brown is up against a Republican. But this seat is so blue that the general election is just a formality. Even my normal pessimism about liberal centrist general election performance won't let me say she has a chance at losing.

It's the other Ohio seat that might have flipped if the dems cared half as much about winning seats as they did about beating progressives.

Just being backed by Hilldog and not renouncing the support should be considered an ethics violation.

It sucks Nina Turner lost, I doubt anything can be done about this. I guess one can dream.

I used to hate BDS on Israel because I used to support Israel a long time ago, but out of spite for the centrists, and the Democratic Majority for Israel group who dumped money into this race. I now support BDS.

Also Free Palestine!

Certainly not the best reason to support Palestinians I've ever seen.
