I guess so.Terminate421 said:And people will blame the rifles when it's clearly the media that turn these people into fucking icons.
Good to see there are still some sane people in this world.Katatori-kun said:Speak for yourself. One of them is the sitting President. Mind cutting out the persecution complex, maybe?
I disagree. I'm perfectly okay (at this point) with leaving people to their own devices in this regard, because the risk of me or someone I know coming to harm in this way is vanishingly small compared to risks I accept already (e.g., driving), and I'd much rather lose the few to protect the rights of the many than lose the rights of the many to save a few.doggie015 said:Well it's evident that they can't do it for themselves either... At some point, you just have to rely on people to be smart and do the responsible thing. The government can't do it all for us.
I saw a documentary about spree shootings where they interviewed some professor of psychiatry and he explicitly stated that the wide spread coverage of mass shootings will on seek to increase the numbers of them due to copy cats etc. Ill try to get a clip of the documentary to back the statement up.Tragedy said:Why do I dread the idea that these shootings happen because the shooters were "inspired" by the previous incidents? Odds are I'm going to hell for laughing at this. God dammit, Mel Brooks.Fappy said:Maybe the shooter was Lonestar's former roommate... or something.Quaxar said:Oh US, now you're just being ridiculous. Seems like they don't even wait for the last one to end before starting the next. Maybe the NRA was right all along, at this rate schools will be empty before any regulations are through!
Posting a warning on their website? I'm not sure how effective that can be...Lucem712 said:Yahoo! News said:At least two people were shot at Lone Star College in Texas on Tuesday, according to local news reports.
An alert posted on the school's website warned students to take shelter.
"LSC-North Harris is locked down," the alert read. "Students, faculty and staff are advised to take immediate shelter where you are. Do not enter the campus until notified further."
Aerial footage showed SWAT team members evacuating students several buildings on the campus in North Harris County near Houston.
A female student told KTRK-TV heard five shots fired in an area between the library and the cafeteria. Other students say they heard gunshots when they were in cafeteria.

We need more guns they said. We'll be safer that way they said.GoddyofAus said:This is breaking news, just happened less then 20 minutes ago. A shooting has taken place in a Texas College. No reports of deaths yet but numerous injuries are confirmed.
This is just staggering. How a nation can tolerate this bullshit with such an obvious reason is mindboggling.
I think it closer to an isolated shooting, but how many victims (injured or dead) do there have to be before it can be qualified as a 'mass shooting'? It's a very loose termGenocidicles said:Two people being shot counts as a mass shooting?
Two people is not a "Mass shooting." just a shooting.BloatedGuppy said:By "obvious reason" I'm certain you are referring to the media's macabre fascination with shootings and spree killers and how we turn them into celebrities?
Offical terming for a mass shooting, as defined by the FBI, is 4+ dead in one shooting.lunavixen said:I think it closer to an isolated shooting, but how many victims (injured or dead) do there have to be before it can be qualified as a 'mass shooting'? Thanks for the info, it's good to know there is solid criteria for this kind of thing.BOOM headshot65 said:Offical terming for a mass shooting, as defined by the FBI, is 4+ dead in one shooting.lunavixen said:I think it closer to an isolated shooting, but how many victims (injured or dead) do there have to be before it can be qualified as a 'mass shooting'? Surely that's not any better. Not premeditated in any way but two jerks with guns just decide to open fire on each other? That seems a reason to me to not trust people entirely to use guns. The only plus I see to this news is at least there were no mass deaths and maybe this damp squib of a shooting will make prospective psychopaths think twice about how "dramatic" and how "infamous" they'll be.Fappy said:According to this [http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/22/lone-star-college-shooting_n_2527806.html#26_lone-star-says-situation-under-control] the situation is under control. Apparently it was an altercation between a few students. Doesn't sound like a premeditated shooting, but who knows at this point.

3 injuries. It was a dispute in which one of two people involved yanked out his gun. Guy running around waving a knife could have just as easily injured as many people. Shall we try to ban those to like the UK wants to do since they had that nice 400% increase in stabbings after their gun ban as well as a huge spike in violent crime because the entire country became a soft-target zone?GoddyofAus said:This is breaking news, just happened less then 20 minutes ago.
