Should Character Emotes Be A Gaming Standard?

Like every gamer (hopefully), I like a game where the world visibly reacts to my game-style and decisions. But I also like to go the extra mile and let the game know how I feel about it, whether it's affection to a NPC by ensuring his/her survival or spite by and teabagging a dead corpse. However, most games I play don't let me show these emotions in a satisfactory manner; I often have to make something up within the confines of other actions. I frequently wish my games came with some kind emote-system.

For example, I'd really like for fighting games (i.e. SCIV) to let players control the after-battle banter of their characters.

Escapists, do you also feel that body language speaks louder and truer than vocal language, even in video games?

I like them. Sometimes, during fights with really weak enemies in Fable 2, I'd stand there and laugh in the middle of combat.

Vocal language is still stronger, thanks to games tending to have unrealistic dialogue animations (see "Bethesda Face" and "Bioware Arm Flailing").

I chose my taunt in SF4 (Chun Li) carefully.
She yawns.

I use it most when I meet a noob Shoto who likes to throw dragon punches around. I tend to block, throw and yawn. If they do it again, so do I. Gets 'em good and angry enough to maybe try another move.

I wish I had time to do that to noob Zangief's who spam the Spinning Hammer Punch (Lariat Punch) while I jump + HK them to the head over & over again. I can get a taunt in when Zangief is dizzied, but would rather take that time to put a large dent in his massive health bar (Ultra or Super).

Yeah, it would be nice to get more emotes. Some games have them (mostly MMO's) but in fighters, a selectable taunt can accomplish the same thing.
Taunts are good and all for the spamtastic-noobs out there, but I do wish there were ways to convey respect for truely skilled players or for battles that were very enjoyable. I could also imagine unlocking new emotes for characters.

I don't know...from my experience, games can't add emotes without also adding quests that require emotes to progress. Randomly. And it takes weeks of sweat and blood and traversing entire maps to break down and break out an FAQ only to find out that I had to kneel to do such and such.

Blah. Talk about annoying.

Taunts are fun but there should be a few requirements for games that include them:

Every MMO with a /sit command should also have a /gocart command to move around/attack while sitting.
For everything else, taunts should do a small amount(1%) damage or be an easy to dodge instakill.
