I loved the first two Parasite Eve games. Particularly the second one, even though it went more third person shooter than the first. However, I'm a bit iffy about playing a third person shooter on PSP. Which of the two does it most resemble? Is it worth buying if I enjoyed the other two Parasite Eves?

The game is good in terms of game play, it's a third person shooter and works quite well. The game can prove to be difficult, but has nothing to do with the controls as they don't really hamper it.

That said, the story is....crap to put it lightly. If you enjoyed the first two games, be prepared to be massively let down by the confusing, poorly written, and annoying story. While it's SUPPOSED to be some sort of spin off game (which in that case some of this would be marginally forgivable), it really isn't as it references the other two. The story will jsut leave you frustrated and confused.

I'd say try at your own discretion, but I think it would be best if you either rent it or buy it cheap instead of full price.

It's closer to the second if anything, but it's still very vastly different, I'd argue it's more nothing a like either. Consequently I'm not sure whether you should buy it solely on just liking the first two. If you're going to buy it, buy it for the gameplay over the story. Personally I didn't mind the story, it was passable(Not great, mind), and I got the gist of what was going on, however a lot of people seem to hate it. The gameplay is still pretty enjoyable though, I mean i'm not a big shooter fan myself, but it kept me entertained. It's a third person shooter with added features. Such as being able to jump into different soldiers bodys, allowing you to get behind an enemy, or if the soldiers low on life, jump to one with more health so you dont die etc. Also theres a level up system, DNA equip system and other unlockables meaning theres quite a bit of replayability.

I wrote a review on this game.

Short answer, probably not.
